Why dies it surprise anybody that the right is confused about the eclipse? They get get confused whenever science "works". They do not even know when science is "working"! The computer that I am using to type these words could not be built without an understanding o science. Polio vaccines, broad spectrum antibiotics, multi-grade motor oil, automatic break systems, refrigerators, none of these things would exist without science "working". To pick and choose which parts of science "work" is a fool's errand, because of the self-correcting nature of scientific research.
