A recent Defense Intelligence Agency assessment has revealed that Donald Trump’s missile strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities caused far less damage than the administration claimed. Contrary to assertions that the sites were “completely destroyed,” the report found only superficial damage, setting Iran’s nuclear program back by just a few months rather than a year. This discrepancy highlights a pattern in Trump’s administration of selectively embracing intelligence that fits its narrative while ignoring inconvenient facts.
At the NATO summit, Trump appeared visibly unsettled and evasive when pressed on key foreign policy issues. His shifting positions on regime change in Iran, uranium enrichment, and NATO obligations highlighted an absence of strategic clarity. Most notably, his hesitation to reaffirm the U.S. commitment to NATO’s Article 5, along with muddled comments regarding Ukraine and Russia, sparked serious concerns about the steadiness and credibility of American leadership on the global stage.
Trump’s immigration policies have fueled a vast and profitable network known as the “immigration industrial complex.” This system involves private corporations like GEO Group and CoreCivic, which financially benefit from mass deportations through contracts that include guaranteed minimum occupancy rates and payments per detainee. Influential figures such as Tom Homan and Stephen Miller have direct financial connections to these companies, highlighting a revolving door where policy decisions and corporate interests intertwine.
Meanwhile, Trump’s erratic behavior extended to a social media tirade targeting women of color in Congress, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, with racially charged and demeaning language. AOC and others pushed back strongly, accusing Trump of betraying the American people by dragging the country toward war. The backlash was not limited to progressives; even some of Trump’s former allies, like Joe Rogan, expressed disillusionment over his broken anti-war promises, revealing fractures within his base.
Lastly, Trump’s Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., advocated for widespread adoption of wearable fitness devices to track Americans’ health data, a stance that contradicts earlier MAGA rhetoric warning against government surveillance. His defense of a health report riddled with inaccuracies further raises concerns about his commitment to scientific integrity.

“American leadership on the world stage”?
The USA itself is effectively leaderless - a man that flip flops according to his perceived audience, is embarrassingly enamoured of Putin, is visibly corrupt, quite obviously in mental and physical distress, and is set on marginalising his own country.
If there ever was a ship called “American Leadership” it has long since sailed.
Don’t know why his remarks should cause any wonder or concern given he has been abundantly clear in most issues. No to Article 5. No to Ukraine. Yes to Putin. Maybe to the EU . Weak no to Iran. Yes please to Israel. No to the welfare of Americans. The totality of his remarks over time make his positions crystal clear. The EU has been ratcheting up all kinds of durable support for Ukraine knowing it is not coming from the U.S. And threatening Greenland does not put you in good stead with NATO. And belligerence toward Canada—an EU ally further undercuts any positive feelings.
