WOW: Madison Cawthorn's Opponent Calls Him Would-Be Domestic Terrorist
Republican Representative Madison Cawthorn, like all members of the House, is up for reelection in 2022 and he has a Democratic opponent who isn’t holding back any punches. Cawthorn’s challenger is a woman named Jasmine Beach-Ferrara and she released an ad this week putting Cawthorn on blast, essentially calling him a would-be domestic terrorist. Beach-Ferrara tweeted along with a copy of the ad, “like too many young people before him, from around the world to right next door, Madison Cawthorn exhibits the signs of a young man who has been radicalized by extremists and is now—dangerously—radicalizing others.” The advertisement featured images of Nazis, neo-Nazis, Charleston shooter Dylann Roof and Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse. The commercial pointed to Cawthorn’s speech ahead of the January 6th insurrection and how he called the rioters “political hostages.” This should be an effective ad against the Trumpian congressman, however, winning in North Carolina’s 11th congressional district will be no easy task. Cawthorn won his seat in 2020 by over twelve percentage points, a gap Beach-Ferrara will have to close in order to oust him from office.
Trump Sues HIS OWN NIECE and New York Times
Donald Trump is suing his own niece, Mary Trump, along with the New York Times for breaching a settlement agreement and damaging his reputation. The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday for the amount of $100 million and claimed the two conspired to get his tax returns in order to report on a story about Trump’s financial situation he has so desperately tried to keep hidden. The suit claims, “the defendants engaged in an insidious plot to obtain confidential and highly-sensitive records which they exploited for their own benefit and utilized as a means of falsely legitimizing their publicized works.” Mary Trump claimed in her tell-all book “Too Much and Never Enough” that she released her uncle’s tax returns to the New York Times. Times reporters Susanne Craig, David Barstow, and Russell Buettner subsequently received a Pulitzer Prize for their write-ups on the topic in 2019. The lawsuit claims that the paper of record “relentlessly sought out his niece . . . and convinced her to smuggle the records out of her attorney’s office and turn them over to The Times.” What this really is about for Trump is a way to get back at his family member and his least favorite media outlet for unveiling secrets about his finances and embarrassing him in the process.
From yesterday’s show:
Marjorie Taylor Greene Humiliates Herself with Memes on House Floor
Republican lawmakers have been bringing poster-size images of their favorite memes onto the House and Senate floor in the latest show that the right-wing has abandoned serious policy discussions in favor of social media messaging campaigns. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene featured a Scooby Doo-style meme of the character Fred pulling off a “Green New Deal” mask from a villain only to reveal the communist hammer and sickle logo. Then Greene went onto the next meme, which was a picture of Chinese President Xi Jinping with the text “I own Joe Biden and now I own Afghanistan’s lithium deposits.” Iowa Senator Joni Ernst wanted to get in on the fun as well, showing off a meme on the Senate floor of Democrats playing Uno. The text read “cut unnecessary spending or draw 25.” If these Republicans were giving long drawn out presentations about substantive policy matters and the left happened to disagree with the points they were making, then that would be one thing. But instead these GOP lawmakers are dumbing down the discourse and appealing to the lowest common denominator because they know that’s what it will take to get them votes.
From yesterday’s show:
Former Trump NSA Says Vaccine Will Be Put in Salad Dressing
Former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn suggested that there will soon be a secret vaccination campaign underway that involves the government putting COVID vaccines in salad dressing. Flynn was on some kind of financial and/or medical show and claimed to have an inside source who knew about the plan. He said, “somebody sent me a thing this morning where they're talking about putting the vaccine in salad dressing.” The ex-Trump adviser followed up with, “I'm thinking to myself, this is the Bizarro World, right? This is definitely the Bizarro World.” Flynn seems to have taken this from a StudyFinds.org report which found that researchers at the University of California-Riverside are looking into if they can modify plants that will carry the same medicine found in an mRNA vaccine. People in QAnon circles like Flynn have spun this into part of a conspiracy theory hatched by the Biden administration to drug people without them even knowing. It’s terrifying to think that someone as nutty as Michael Flynn was advising the President of the United States on foreign policy matters — even if that president was Donald Trump.
