Trump Interview with Black Anchor Quickly Goes Bad
Donald Trump sat down for an interview with Harris Faulkner on Fox News to discuss protests and policing. The exchange was a comedy of errors that featured Trump claiming he is the best President of all time for Black Americans with the possible exception of Abraham Lincoln. Trump also was forced to defend his tweet about “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.” The President also went on a rant about the use of chokeholds by police, calling the concept “so innocent, so perfect.”
Trump choosing to do this interview with Harris Faulkner, who is a black woman, on the topic of the George Floyd protests will be seen by some as an olive branch. Of course, the interview is still on Fox News and Trump found a way to bungle the opportunity to reach out to the protesters yet again. Further, the people who would need to see this would never see this and the people who do watch Fox are already loyal Trumpists who aren’t going to turn on him. The result is a failure of an interview on top of a failure in effort.
Trump Visibly Struggles to Drink Water & Walk
Donald Trump delivered a bizarre and self-congratulatory graduation speech at West Point over the weekend. The speech was riddled with failed applause lines and was absent the energy seen in many of Trump’s performances. Even weirder, Trump had difficulty pronouncing the names of well-known generals, struggled to drink water, and had to walk at an exceptionally slow speed down a ramp accompanied by a serviceman. Trump later took to Twitter to defend his walk, of course claiming all the while he is in impeccable shape.
There could be a number of explanations for the behavior we are seeing from Trump, and if it’s a health issue it absolutely should not be made fun of. The problem is that Trump lies about his health and gets his doctors to go along with the lies. If instead it was Joe Biden who had exhibited this behavior over the weekend, people would be calling for him to drop out of the race because he wasn’t mentally fit. With Trump, not too many even call his health and fitness into question.
From over the weekend:
Politics & Religion Should NOT Be Taboo in Conversation
A viewer wrote in and asked if it should be taboo to discuss politics and region with family, friends, co-workers, etc. Many aren’t willing to touch upon these topics because the conversations tend to anger people and devolve into personal attacks. I think it is important for people, from a young age, to learn how to discuss politics and religion in a way that is calm and respectful. If the only model people have for this discourse is Facebook and Twitter, that’s not good. It might be more important than ever to encourage healthy conversations about these topics.

Capital Hill Occupation Protest CHOP is a peaceful experiment in community policing. The police chose to leave they weren't driven out. The occupiers have a community garden being planted in the Cal Anderson Park with permission of Seattle. Outside visitors are allowed unless they cause trouble. Several far-right disruptors with guns have tried to start fires and vandalize and they are 'captured' and turned over to Seattle police at the 'border'. Seattle has given the zone an unused fire department building to use as a headquarters of operation. Negotiations are ongoing concerning services like medic/fire. Networks like FOX have blown it way out of proportions, and of course that is what Trump sees. He needs to butt out!
