Slurring Trump rally goes horribly wrong
In a recent rally in New Hampshire, Donald Trump expressed growing concern over polling that showed Nikki Haley tied with him, prompting daily rallies and endorsements from figures like Vivek Ramaswamy. Trump's rally took a dangerous turn as he called for CNN and NBC to have their licenses revoked, emphasizing his autocratic tendencies. He insisted on complete loyalty from media outlets, revealing a desire for a dictatorial relationship with the press. Trump's attacks extended to the election process, criticizing New Hampshire's open primaries where independents can vote. He warned against independent voters supporting Haley, contradicting the notion of Republicans being a big-tent party. Additionally, Trump falsely claimed he followed the law in leaving the White House, despite facing 91 criminal indictments, many of which have to do with his attempts to overturn the election results. The speech highlighted Trump's disdain for democratic principles, free press, fair elections, and the rule of law.
Vivek HUMILIATED by Trump, who calls him "Ram-a-shwamy"
Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy dropped out of the presidential race after coming in fourth place in the Iowa caucus. Immediately after doing so, Ramaswamy endorsed Donald Trump for president and it didn’t take long for him to appear next to him at a rally. The speech at Trump's event resembled a job interview, marked by extensive praise for Trump and Trump's apparent boredom during the endorsement. Vivek touched on themes of a war between the permanent state and citizens, as well as controversial stances on truth, gender, fossil fuels, racism, borders, education, and capitalism. During his campaign, Ramaswamy would refuse to answer whether he’d consider being Trump’s vice president, but now that he’s dropped out, it’s quite clear he would want the job.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump repeats lies to sycophant crowd after winning Iowa
Donald Trump claimed victory in the Iowa caucus to a supportive crowd after securing a less-than-expected 51% of the vote. Trump sarcastically congratulated rivals Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis for “having a good time together.” The speech was marked by inaccuracies, such as Trump's claim of a third Iowa win, even though he lost the caucus to Ted Cruz in 2016 and essentially ran uncontested in 2020. Trump then disparaged Joe Biden, suggesting Jimmy Carter was redeemed because he lived to see a worse president than him. The underlying message of the speech was that Trump demands loyalty and wants his competitors to drop out. Though Chris Christie and Vivek Ramaswamy have ended their campaigns, Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis believe they performed well enough in Iowa to carry on to New Hampshire next week.
From yesterday’s show:
Ron DeSantis acts like he won Iowa (he lost)
Ron DeSantis delivered an intriguing speech after losing the Iowa caucus, where it sounded like he declared victory by stating he got his “ticket punched out of Iowa.” The speech, criticized for its cringeworthy elements, emphasized overcoming challenges, including a $50 million attack and media opposition. DeSantis seemed to downplay his loss, suggesting he maintained a solid second-place status and could continue to the New Hampshire primary. Meanwhile, Nikki Haley echoed the sentiment, declaring a two-person race between her and Trump, despite unclear criteria for the claim. The speeches, pre-planned and seemingly disconnected from election results, sparked confusion and raised questions about the candidates' interpretation of their standings.
