Trump shares sick fantasy of "citizen's arrest" of judge and prosecutor
Donald Trump is becoming increasingly unhinged in his reactions to the numerous criminal in civil cases against him and he’s now calling for citizen arrests to be made against the people looking to hold him accountable. Accused of engaging in stochastic terrorism, Trump targeted individuals in his New York civil fraud trial, articulating a disturbing fantasy about apprehending Judge Arthur Engoron and New York Attorney General Letitia James. This call for citizen arrests is a blatant violation of a gag order, extending beyond rhetorical excess and raising fears of potential real-world consequences. Legal experts emphasize the limited applicability and associated risks of citizen arrests, noting that Trump's encouragement of such actions is not only irresponsible but may incite his supporters to do harm. Trump's statements underscore the need for awareness regarding the potential dangers associated with his rhetoric and why he should be held responsible for repeatedly violating gag orders and bail conditions.
Republican Senator tries to fight witness during Senate hearing
In a Senate hearing yesterday, Senator Bernie Sanders intervened to prevent a physical altercation between Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin and Teamsters President Sean O'Brien, both known for their previous conflicts. Tensions escalated when Mullin, after a Twitter exchange with O'Brien, challenged him to a fight during the hearing. At one point, Mullin stood up and took off his wedding ring, apparently ready to trade blows with the union leader. Sanders, emphasizing the seriousness of the Senate, intervened, stating it's not a playground and that they need to stick to the issues. In a subsequent CNN interview, Sanders expressed disappointment, highlighting the urgent need for Congress to focus on crucial challenges. Despite ongoing successes for organized labor under the Biden administration, Sanders stressed that such incidents contribute to public dissatisfaction and distract from legislative accomplishments, underscoring the necessity for a more mature and focused approach to addressing the nation's critical issues.
From yesterday’s show:
ZERO inflation last month, lowest rate in TWO YEARS
The rate of inflation in the United States continues to decline, with the Federal Reserve reporting zero inflation last month and a year-over-year decrease to 3.2%, marking the lowest figure in approximately two years. This development prompts a closer examination of inflation metrics, emphasizing the distinction between monthly and yearly calculations to alleviate potential misconceptions. Analyzing the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for October, data indicates unchanged consumer prices and a slowed core inflation rate, attributed in part to a significant drop in oil prices. While inflation has certainly been too high over the past couple of years, it’s important to point out that some inflation is actually a good thing. The importance of maintaining a 2 to 3% inflation range is pivotal in preventing economic downturns and hyperinflation while promoting sustained economic activity. Despite attracting some criticisms and political reactions, the reduced inflation rate is a positive thing, potentially influencing forthcoming decisions by the Federal Reserve on interest rates and contributing to economic stability.
From yesterday’s show:
HORROR: Trump rioter is running for Congress
Jacob Chansley, known as the QAnon shaman and a participant in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, is running for US Congress to represent Arizona’s eighth district. His candidacy emerges as Congresswoman Debbie Lesko has decided not to seek reelection, leaving the seat open. Despite Chansley's federal prison sentence and disavowal of QAnon and Trump during his trial, Arizona law permits convicted felons to run for federal office. The development raises concerns about the evolving nature of the Republican Party, as a decade ago, the candidacy of someone associated with the Capitol riot would have seemed unlikely and written off as having no chance. In today’s Republican Party that has been hijacked by Trumpism, Chansley may have to be taken seriously as a possible future congressman. The prospect of an individual tied to the Capitol riot securing a congressional seat would be so extreme that it would even surpass the controversies associated with MAGA figures like Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Madison Cawthorn.
