Many 2022 Republicans Accused of Assault, Threats of Murder
We’re now under a year away from the 2022 midterm elections and there’s a real possibility that it won’t be good for Democrats. The typical trend is that the party that just won the White House has a poor showing in the midterms. For Democrats in 2022, that means they could easily lose the House of Representatives and maybe the Senate as well. We’re now starting to learn more about the candidates running in the Republican field ready to challenge mainly Democratic incumbents. It turns out that many in the up-and-coming GOP field have been accused of assaulting or threatening to murder someone. One of the accused is Sean Parnell, who is running for a US Senate seat to represent Pennsylvania. Parnell is accused by his ex-wife of strangling her and hitting their children. Similar accusations have been made against three others, including Herschel Walker, Max Miller, and Eric Greitens. In the past this would be disqualifying but, not longer. To some degree, this may be due to Donald Trump’s coarsening of political discourse.
WOW: Stacey Abrams PAC Wipes Out $212 Million in Medical Debt for 108,000 People
Stacey Abrams’s PAC has wiped out $212 million in medical debt for 108,000 people. The Fair Fight Political Action Committee did so with a $1.34 million donation to the non-profit RIP Medical Debt, with the face value of the money owed being $212 million. The recipients lived in Georgia, Arizona, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Abrams said about the payment, “I know firsthand how medical costs and a broken healthcare system put families further and further in debt.” The former Georgia gubernatorial candidate went on to say, “across the sunbelt and in the South, this problem is exacerbated in states like Georgia where failed leaders have callously refused to expand Medicaid, even during a pandemic.” While it’s wonderful that Abrams’ PAC chose to do this, the truth is that this should not be necessary in a country as wealthy and developed as the United States. We can find the actions of individuals admirable while finding the circumstances that precipitated them immoral and that’s exactly the lesson to take away from this story.
From yesterday’s show:
Disastrous Trump Veterans Day Video is Barely Audible
Donald Trump managed to make yesterday’s Veterans’ Day holiday all about himself. Trump said in a video he released after thanking those who served, “we will come back. Our country has gone through a lot. The last period of time has been very, very tough . . . but our country will be back and we’ll be back stronger than ever.” Trump has a long history of being egotistical about holidays, tragedies, and commemorative events. On the night of the September 11th attacks, Trump bragged about one of his buildings becoming the tallest in Lower Manhattan with the Twin Towers no longer standing. Years later on a 9/11 anniversary, Trump said that he and people who worked for him went down to Ground Zero to help out in anyway they could, even though there is no record of that. This is what Donald Trump does and this is who he is. Seeing the ego of this person and the lack of sympathy for anyone else, it’s clear why he wasn’t able to carry out his time as president with dignity and pass the baton on peacefully when it was determined that he had lost reelection.
From yesterday’s show:
Donald Trump Mike Pillow Interview is Stuff of Nightmares
Donald Trump sat down for an interview with MyPillow guy Mike Lindell in which for some reason the ex-president was wearing a tuxedo. The MyPillow team is marketing this as some sort of exclusive blockbuster interview and it is expected to be released around Thanksgiving. Lindell believes that when people see it, the American people are going to be blown away to the point that it’s going to lead people to rise up and demand the reinstatement of Trump to the White House. This is the exact same type of marketing that he did for his cyber symposium and many other events which he claimed would lead to Trump returning to power. In one of the teasers, Lindell said that “if a tree falls in the forest did it really fall? Well then the media tells us there is no forest.” The ex-president nodded along to this statement as if he knew what Mike was talking about. Lindell went on to ask what gives Trump “the emotional strength” to carry on despite the media being critical of him. It doesn’t appear clear what Trump is doing every day post-presidency, but if it’s mostly just interviews with sycophants like the My Pillow guy, he clearly doesn’t have much to do.
