Anti-Vax SO DISASTROUS That Biden Announces New Strategy
The vaccination effort in the United States is beginning to scale down as demand begins to lessen, so the Biden administration is coming up with new ways to get shots in people’s arms. The nation is on average administering 2.3 million doses per day, down from a peak of about 4 million daily doses a few weeks ago. The prevailing theory explaining the slowdown is that there is simply a drop off in demand. Many of those who wanted to get vaccinated have already done so, with nationwide full eligibility having begun on April 19th. The most at-risk population have already been inoculated and now it’s younger, healthier people who need to sign up for theirs. Among the unvaccinated, some are simply waiting for appointments, others need better access to the vaccines, and some are skeptical and will refuse to take it.
Now that the pace of the inoculation effort is changing, the Biden administration is trying to change along with it. The president announced in a speech yesterday that he will be launching a new phase of the effort and that the goal will be to get at least 70% of American adults at least partially vaccinated by Independence Day. The administration wants to place less of an emphasis on using mass vaccinations sites. At this stage of the effort, they consider it more effective to invest in local sites and to target younger Americans and those who are more hesitant. The good news is that the drop in demand does not mean the effort is failing. As of this week, more than 106 million American adults are fully vaccinated and more than 148 million in the nation of 331 million have received at least one shot.
OH NO: Trump's New "Social Media" Platform is a Pathetic Blog
Donald Trump launched his own social media alternative yesterday and it looks much more like a blog than an actual platform. The former president was banned from social media sites like Twitter and Facebook after the January 6th insurrection and ever since he’s tried to come up with new ways to get messages out to his followers. After months of work, people employed by the ex-president managed to create a webpage called the “Donald J. Trump desk” where visitors can check out blurbs dictated by the former Commander in Chief. Next to the blurbs, there are buttons for users to share Trump’s posts on their own Facebook and Twitter feeds. The site is complete with a video that goes through the timeline of Trump getting suspended from social media and explains that this blog is the solution. What’s amazing is that given his resources, the former president wasn’t able to come up with something that looked more dynamic or that could involve his supporters in a more community-oriented way.
From yesterday’s show:
Fox News: Joe Biden Making the Economy TOO GOOD!
Fox News simply doesn’t know how to cover the Joe Biden presidency. Much of the network’s coverage in recent months has been about cancel culture and big tech issues because Fox can’t find a way to criticize the new Democratic president in a way that sticks. This became evident the other day, when host Sandra Smith had on Republican Senator Mike Braun for an interview. Smith tried her best to criticize the proposals Biden presented in his first speech to Congress last week. She suggested that Biden’s plans for infrastructure, community college, and paid family leave will “spend all this money when it seems things are getting better.” Smith made her point by arguing the American economy is currently booming, based on indicators like unemployment, wages, and the stock market. Essentially, this boils down to the idea that because Biden is already so successful on the economic front, it would be foolish for him to keep trying to do more.
