Trump Planning HUMILIATING Inauguration Day Stunt
Donald Trump is reportedly planning an absolutely insane Inauguration Day stunt. It is tradition for the outgoing president to be with the incoming president during the inauguration ceremony to demonstrate a peaceful transfer of power. However, Trump is planning on bucking this tradition and is instead flying down to Florida on Air Force One for a campaign rally held at the same time as Biden’s swearing-in. It’s hard to imagine something more petulant and childish while also being so corrosive to democracy. A move like this would further confuse Americans about the outcome of the election and lead some to believe that maybe Biden really didn’t win.
The other wrinkle into this is that Trump may be planning to announce his 2024 candidacy on Inauguration Day — perhaps at this Florida rally. Whatever happens on January 20th, it’s obvious that Trump won’t act like an adult. He won’t have the ability to stage a coup or refuse to leave the White House, so instead he’s going to surround himself with sycophants and do what he enjoys best in his favorite state. Either a parallel presidency or a never-ending Trump campaign is likely to be the reality in America for the next four years.
SICK SHOCK: Trump TURNED DOWN Vaccine Doses from Pfizer
We learned yesterday that over the summer the Trump administration passed on buying extra vaccine doses from Pfizer. Doses in this initial tranche are now starting to be delivered to the UK to vaccinate people over there. It’s possible that Trump turning away the vaccine has delayed when it can become widely available in the US. Pfizer has made deals to get vaccine doses to other countries that approved the sale before the US. This means that besides some initial doses expected to be delivered next week, the Pfizer vaccine may not be widely available in the US until June of 2021. In the meantime, not only is the UK already vaccinating people, the EU has reached a supply deal with Pfizer for 200 million doses with an option for 100 million more.
Now the Trump administration is scrambling and trying to force Pfizer into selling the doses to the US. Trump is haphazardly putting together an executive order that he could sign today “to ensure that the United States government prioritizes getting the vaccine to American citizens before sending it to other nations.” It's so far unclear what enforcement mechanisms the US government has with regard to a company like Pfizer that has already made the transactions. I would call it a comedy of errors except there's nothing funny about it. It's more like a tragedy of errors.
From yesterday’s show:
Trumpists Might BOYCOTT Georgia Senate Elections
Some Trump voters in Georgia are planning on not voting in the Senate runoff elections on January 5th. They view it as a strategy to get back at the Republican establishment for not doing enough to help Trump steal the 2020 presidential election. The Republican Party in Georgia is in a precarious position since they have to argue simultaneously that Trump was the victim of voter fraud and that Republican votes will count in the runoffs. It would be against progressive principles to try and convince residents of Georgia not to vote in their elections, but luckily we don’t need to. People like Lin Wood, Sidney Powell, and other right-wingers are doing it for us. If even a small portion of the Georgia Republicans who otherwise would have voted, stay home, it could mean the difference in taking back control of the US Senate.
