Trump Knew His Plan Broke the Law, Pushed It Anyway
Perhaps the biggest revelation from day three of the January 6th hearing is that Greg Jacob, former counsel to Mike Pence, told the committee that Donald Trump was informed by his lawyer John Eastman that his attempt to conduct a legislative coup on January 6th was illegal. Jacob was asked in his deposition, “did John Eastman ever admit, as far as you know, in front of the president that his proposal would violate the Electoral Count Act?” Jacob responded, “I believe he did on the 4th,” meaning January 4th. Trump also lied about whether Mike Pence had signed onto his idea to refuse certain electoral votes. In a statement he released on January 5th, Trump said, “the Vice President and I are in total agreement that the Vice President has the power to act.” According to Greg Jacob, Pence’s team was “shocked and disappointed” because the assertion was “categorically untrue.” Trump was willing to put words in Pence’s mouth, knowingly violate the law, and do so much worse in order to hold onto power after clearly losing the election.
Trump Lawyer Knew It Was Illegal, Begged for a Pardon
Not long after Trump lawyer John Eastman informed Donald Trump that his plan to overturn the 2020 election was illegal, he requested a presidential pardon. Former White House attorney Eric Herschmann spoke to Eastman about his plan to get Pence to send electors back to the states, and told him “get a great f***ing criminal defense lawyer because you’re going to need it.” This further shows that Eastman knew he was breaking the law by convincing Trump of this plan to conduct a legislative coup. If that wasn’t already clear, Eastman sent an email to Trump’s team saying, “I’ve decided that I should be on the pardon list, if that is still in the works.” Eastman and Trump should absolutely face consequences for their actions on those days, as they violated the law and knew they were doing so.

WOW: BOTH Trump-Endorsed PA Republicans Losing in Polls
Donald Trump’s two endorsees in Pennsylvania, Mehmet Oz and Doug Mastriano, are both losing to their Democratic challengers in the first round of polling. In the Senate race, John Fetterman is beating Dr. Oz 46% to 37%, with 13% undecided in the poll conducted by Suffolk University. In the governor’s race, Josh Shapiro is leading Mastriano by a smaller amount, 44% to 40% with 13% undecided. There’s a few different ways to look at these early polling results: On the one hand, it’s a positive that the Democrats are winning. But on the other, having 13% undecided in both races suggests they could really go either way. Pennsylvania is a blue state but it will occasionally elect Republicans, as it did by voting for Trump in the 2016 presidential election. These will be key races for Democrats to pick up if they have any hope of having a strong midterm performance.

Rudy Giuliani Deletes Tweets Denying Being Drunk on Election 2020
Rudy Giuliani took down a couple of tweets denying that he was drunk on election night, perhaps suggesting that there could be undeniable evidence that he did have alcohol while advising Donald Trump. The tweets in question read, “I am disgusted and outraged at the out right lie by Jason Miller and Bill Steppien [sic]. I was upset that they were nor prepared for the massive cheating (as well as other lawyers around the President) I REFUSED all alcohol that evening. My favorite drink…Diet Pepsi! Is the false testimony from Miller and Steppien [sic] because I yelled at them? Are they being paid to lie?” Indeed it might be Rudy who is lying about this. He also likely made matters worse for himself by saying he “refused all alcohol” rather than just saying he wasn’t drunk. If a picture now comes out showing him drinking any alcohol at all, it’ll be proven that he wasn’t telling the truth.
