Trump To Hold Massive Rallies as Coronavirus Spreads
Despite coronavirus cases rising sharply in parts of the United States, Donald Trump announced he will soon go back to holding large in-person campaign rallies. The President’s return to the stage will be in Tulsa, Oklahoma on June 19th. Oklahoma’s caseload isn’t too devastating right now but the President also has plans to rally in more heavily impacted states, like Florida, Arizona, and North Carolina.
Trump has decided that the coronavirus is for all intents and purposes over and it’s time for him to start holding rallies and having fun again. So far the coronavirus has mostly been concentrated in cities but events like these can spread the disease into more rural areas. Of course, at this point, Trump doesn’t really care about that. He calculates that in order to have a chance against Biden in the fall, he’ll need to go back to his standard playbook. The question is, will the comeback give Trump a resurgence in the polls or will it just lead to a surge in COVID cases for his supporters?
Caller: People Lying About Supporting Biden
A live caller raised an interesting conversation about Joe Biden’s level of support being possibly overblown. It is speculated that Trump’s support was underrepresented in 2016 which made it difficult to predict his electoral college victory. The idea is that if it happened in 2016, it can happen again in 2020. The problem with this argument is that it’s unfalsifiable. Sure a new CNN poll may have Biden up by 14 percentage points, but skeptics can dismiss that by saying people are lying. How do you argue with that? There is really no way to prove or disapprove the silent majority theory until we hold the election in November.
From yesterday’s show:
NRA SILENT About Police Crackdowns They Warned About
For decades, the NRA has argued that citizens need to take advantage of their Second Amendment rights to take on a tyrannical government if it ever becomes necessary. But the NRA continues to stay silent on police brutality and the repression of protests. Historically, they have been unwilling to criticize cops because police departments buy a lot of guns. This has held true during the George Floyd protests. It’s becoming clear that all along the need for the gun that they argued about wasn’t to protect against the government but rather against liberals who disagree with them.
