Trump-Endorsed Alleged Serial Groper Loses Primary Election
Donald Trump has a 2022 midterm endorsement failure on his hands with alleged serial groper Charles Herbster losing his bid to become the Republican nominee for Governor of Nebraska. Jim Pillen won the race getting approximately 34% of the vote, with Herbster placing second at 30%. Trump said in his endorsement of Herbster that he is a “good man” and a “truly America-first Republican.” Eight women, including a state senator, allege that Herbster has groped, forcibly kissed or touched them at public events over the years. Trump did however get another win on his record yesterday. Rep. Alex Mooney, whom Trump endorsed, defeated Rep. David McKinley in the GOP primary for West Virginia’s second congressional district, 54% to 36%. Tuesday’s one win and one loss for Trump probably won’t be enough to torpedo his endorsement power within the Republican field, but plenty of challenges remain for him this primary season.
Elon Musk Will Unban Trump on Twitter
Elon Musk has announced that he is going to be unbanning Donald Trump from Twitter if and when he’s able to successfully purchase the social media platform in the coming months. Musk was asked at an event whether he would allow the former president back on Twitter. He said, “permanent bans should be extremely rare” and should be mostly reserved for bots and scam accounts. Musk went on to say, “I do think that it was not correct to ban Donald Trump. I think that was a mistake because it alienated a large part of the country and it did not ultimately result in Trump not having a voice.” Hilariously enough, Trump has expressed that he is not interested in rejoining Twitter and wants to stay on his Truth Social platform, which has not been off to a tremendous start. Generally speaking, Musk is correct to oppose banning people for life. Trump has been kicked off Twitter now for over a year for spreading disinformation about the 2020 election and inciting the Capitol insurrection of January 6, 2021. Trump shouldn’t be permanently banned from these social media sites, but that doesn’t mean now is necessarily the appropriate time to allow him back on.

Ron DeSantis Furious About "Chake Qay-Varra" (Che Guevara)
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill this week establishing a “Victims of Communism Day.” A feature of right-wing reactionaries is to have some sort of boogeyman to fearmonger against and a staple throughout the years is that there are communists within American ranks that the people need to be warned about. This plays especially well in a place like Florida with a lot of exiles from Cuba and Venezuela. DeSantis said during a press event, “you can see at a college campus students flying the hammer and sickle from the Soviet Union flag. You will see students that will have t-shirts with Che Guevara on the t-shirts. You will see students that will idolize people like Mao Zedong. That to me speaks to a tremendous ignorance about what those individuals represented.” DeSantis takes advantage of every culture war battle he can get involved in and this week it just happens to be the right’s fight against communism.

LOL: Right-Wing OAN Admits There Was No Voter Fraud
The right wing “news” network OAN has had to go back on its claims that there was “widespread voter fraud” in the 2020 election. OAN has been forced to settle a defamation suit and what came with it was a thirty second correction aired on the network. The narrator reading the correction said, “Georgia officials have concluded that there was no widespread voter fraud by election workers who counted ballots at the State Farm Arena in November 2020. The results of this investigation indicate that Ruby Freeman and Wandrea ‘Shay’ Moss did not engage in ballot fraud or criminal misconduct while working at State Farm Arena on election night. A legal matter with this network and the two election workers has been resolved to the mutual satisfaction of the parties through a fair and reasonable settlement.” This settlement and correction was quite narrow as it only pertained to these two workers whom OAN wrongly accused, but at least after over a year, the network has had to backtrack on some of its bogus election fraud claims.
