WHOA: Trump Even Humiliates Himself on Fox News
After embarrassing interviews with Chris Wallace and Jonathan Swan, Donald Trump went on Fox & Friends for a softball interview and still managed to screw it up. Trump yet again could not provide a coherent answer as to why he should be elected for a second term. He talked about how well the country was doing before the coronavirus, without addressing how to rebound from the current crisis or what policies he would implement if reelected.
Trump argued coronavirus cases are going down, of course, not mentioning that recent numbers from California and Florida have been deflated. He insisted on schools reopening and called children “immune” from coronavirus. The topic of Trump not accepting the results of the 2020 election came up once again. Trump ranted about how Hillary Clinton never accepted the 2016 election results, which isn’t true. Trump wrapped up the interview by saying he will probably give his speech to the Republican National Convention from the White House, to save the Secret Service money. That doesn’t make any sense, since he’s golfed 284 days during his first term.
Trump Attacks Vote-by-Mail While Telling Floridians to Vote-by-Mail
Donald Trump made a shameless and blatant contradiction on the topic of vote-by-mail yesterday. For weeks, Trump has been saying vote-by-mail will rig the election and that it’s a “disgrace.” Out of nowhere, Trump tweeted yesterday, “whether you call it Vote by Mail or Absentee Voting, in Florida the election system is Safe and Secure, Tried and True. Florida’s Voting system has been cleaned up (we defeated Democrats attempts at change), so in Florida I encourage all to request a Ballot & Vote by Mail! #MAGA” During his coronavirus press briefing, Trump followed up by saying Republican Governors Scott and DeSantis have done a great job, so it’s safe to vote by mail in Florida.
There is a lot of speculation as to why Trump wants Floridians to vote by mail. One theory is that the Trump campaign has internal polling showing they are likely to do better with mail-in votes in Florida. A more cynical, but certainly reasonable, idea is that Trump’s lackey Ron DeSantis will help sabotage the election in a scenario reminiscent of Bush vs. Gore. Whatever the reason, Trump looks absolutely foolish for this sudden reversal.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump EXPLODES After Nevada Approves Full Mail-In Voting
While Trump is now okay with vote-by-mail in Florida, he’s not okay with it in Nevada and is planning to sue the state. Nevada approved sending every registered voter an absentee ballot, rather than sending applications, which is what’s happening in most states. Trump immediately took to Twitter and said, “In an illegal late night coup, Nevada’s clubhouse Governor made it impossible for Republicans to win the state. Post Office could never handle the Traffic of Mail-In Votes without preparation. Using Covid to steal the state. See you in Court!” States run elections and have every right to do this. This could be a preview of the endless litigation Trump will initiate before and after the 2020 election.
