Trumpist Mail Carrier Threw Out Bags of Mail
Republicans led by President Trump have been casting doubt on the integrity of the 2020 election because of mail-in ballots. They know that expanded voting access is going to lead to more people voting and higher turnout favors Joe Biden. The right has taken a few instances of human error and tried to blow them out of proportion to put in doubt the state’s and the Postal Service’s ability to carry out the election. They pretend as though all of the interference is done by Democrats who are out to get Trump.
Well, a letter carrier and QAnon supporter named Sean Troesch has been accused of hoarding “eight large garbage bags of suspected undelivered mail.” Neighbors believe Troesch has thrown out mail before and their claims are being investigated. No charges have been filed yet. This is the aspect of voter fraud that Republicans never seem to understand. To the extent that it exists, Democrats and Republicans can both be the victims of it. There are plenty of people who are willing to break the law to see Trump reelected and Troesch was likely just one of them. It doesn’t mean the entire election process is rigged or untrustworthy.
Republican Governor WON'T Support Tump
Republican Governor of Massachusetts, Charlie Baker, has announced that he cannot support Donald Trump for President and he will not be voting for him. His communications director put out a statement saying the Governor is “focused on seeing Massachusetts through the pandemic.” Baker, though a Republican, has handled the coronavirus quite well and helped oversee a summer with a very low infection rate in the commonwealth. Baker also stood up to Trump by refusing to send National Guard forces to the southern border.
It’s not totally clear why Baker is denouncing Trumpism in 2020, although it’s no surprise as he also didn’t vote for Trump in 2016. This could be entirely a political calculation, as Baker is already a popular Republican governor in a blue state so maybe he shouldn’t rock the boat. It could also be a personal disapproval of the current president, or a combination of the two. In any event, we can probably expect a childish and unhinged attack on Baker coming soon from the presidential Twitter feed.
From yesterday’s show:
Hunter Biden "Bombshell" Could Be Totally Fake
The Trump campaign and right-wing media have been promoting a New York Post story about Joe Biden and his son Hunter. The Post’s report alleges that Hunter Biden left a computer at a tech repair shop in Delaware last year and that emails were recovered from the hard drive. (Already this claim is on shaky grounds.) The gist of the emails are that Hunter Biden helped arrange a meeting with his father, then-Vice President Biden, and a top Ukrainian energy executive. It’s unclear whether the story is true or whether it will gain traction in mainstream media. If this is all there is, it’s hard to believe it would be enough to torpedo the Biden campaign with two weeks to go before the election.
