Steve Bannon ARRESTED, Indicted, in Money Laundering Fraud Scheme
Absolutely crazy news broke yesterday. Former White House chief strategist to Donald Trump, Steve Bannon, was arrested and indicted on multiple charges for defrauding thousands of donors through private “build the wall” initiatives that he was a part of. Three others were also indicted by the Southern District of New York for their connections in the scheme. Prosecutors say that Bannon and his accomplices defrauded donors by raising more than $25 million to build a wall along the southern border and that a bunch of the money was used for personal gain.
I remember when these fundraisers were happening. We wondered about who would be dumb enough to donate to one of these schemes. Now we know more about who was behind one of them and how money was allegedly used for personal benefit. Steve Bannon joins the long list of former Trump officials who have faced legal issues since pledging their support to this president.
Most Americans EMBARRASSED by Trump's Coronavirus Handling
A new CNN/SSRS poll finds that nearly seven in ten Americans are “embarrassed” by the United States’ response to coronavirus led by President Donald Trump. Trump’s disapproval for handling the virus has gone up to 58%. How does 42% of the country think Trump has been doing a good job on the virus? That's a problem. Eight in 10 Americans are angry about the coronavirus response and 51 percent are “very angry.” That’s a little deceptive though, because while some people are upset about Trump’s mishandling of the virus, others are upset that they have to wear a mask.
When it comes to reopening the country, 57% of Americans say schools should not open for in-person classes in the fall. This really is not an overwhelming majority. Forty-nine percent of Americans say there should not be in-person sports and 45% of Americans say there should be in-person sports. Even though the people who are taking the virus seriously in this country outweigh those who aren’t, it’s amazing how close it is.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump Floated Swapping Puerto Rico for Greenland to Get Rid of "Dirty" Puerto Rico
According to the former Department of Homeland Security Chief of Staff, Miles Taylor, Donald Trump floated the idea of swapping Puerto Rico for Greenland in order to get rid of some of those “poor, dirty” Puerto Ricans, as Trump put it. This ties into Trump’s racist notions about good countries and “s-hole countries.” It also ties into Trump’s failure to understand that Puerto Rico is part of the United States and its people are American citizens. If this is a true report, it is despicable. Even more despicable is how it is likely not going to have an impact on the election because this is what people already expect from Donald Trump.
