Beyond Parody: Republican Doesn't Remember Shortages Under Trump
Republicans are doing their best to rewrite history about what has taken place over the past two years of COVID. This week, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton made the spurious claim that Donald Trump would have prevented the supply chain issues that are currently taking place under Joe Biden. In an appearance on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News program, Cotton said “you know we’ve had this pandemic for two years, Laura. I don’t remember inflation or supply chain shortages or labor shortages that we’ve seen this year in the first year of the pandemic. What changed? Joe Biden and the Democrats took power in January.” This is a complete and total deception by Tom Cotton. In the early stages of the pandemic, many businesses were shut down. There was an abundance of labor only because it was determined to be too unsafe for people to be working. Inflation also grew in the Trump administration in part because there were huge government spending bills to soften the blow of the economic hit. Most absurd of all is Cotton’s suggestion that there were no shortages under Trump. Everyone remembers the run on toilet paper, paper towels, hand sanitizer, soap, and certain grocery items as people panic bought in March and April of 2020. Republicans didn’t blame Trump for the mess that took place last year, but all of the sudden they have determined that Biden is to blame.
Fox Guest Compares Dr. Fauci to Nazi Doctor Josef Mengele
Right-wing figures have notoriously compared COVID-19 restrictions to Nazi-Germany throughout the pandemic. Lara Logan, host of the Fox News program Lara Logan Has No Agenda, followed in this tradition by comparing Dr. Anthony Fauci to Nazi physician Josef Mengele, also known as the “Angel of Death,” who conducted deadly experiments on prisoners at Auschwitz. Logan said that “this is what people say to me, that [Fauci] doesn’t represent science to them. He represents Dr. Josef Mengele. Dr. Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor who did experiments on Jews during the Second World War and in the concentration camps.” Logan went on to claim that people “all across the world are saying this.” Comments like this explain why Dr. Fauci requires around-the-clock security. Every time Fox viewers hear this dangerous rhetoric, there’s a greater chance that someone in the audience will perpetrate violence against Dr. Fauci because they perceive him as a Nazi. In reality, Dr. Fauci is trying to save people’s lives and has nothing in common with Josef Mengele.
From yesterday’s show:
WOW: Dr. Fauci DROPS HAMMER on Ted Cruz
It has now gone fully mainstream within the Republican Party to launch attacks against the nation’s top infectious disease expert, Anthony Fauci. One of the latest calls by the right comes from Senator Ted Cruz, who said that Fauci should be “prosecuted.” Dr. Fauci spoke on CBS’s Face the Nation about the right-wing campaign against him and specifically about Cruz’s claim. He responded with a laugh and said, “I should be prosecuted? What happened on January 6th, Senator?” Some are responding to this comment from Fauci by saying it’s not appropriate for a public health official to be criticizing a lawmaker. But in fact the reverse is true. Folks like Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Tom Cotton and others have been lambasting Fauci for nearly two years in an attempt to make the virus and the vaccines political. Fauci at this point is 80 years old and doesn’t need to be fighting these political battles but he sounds determined to remain at his post at least a little while longer to keep people healthy.
From yesterday’s show:
BREAKING: White House Says Biden "Intends" to Run in 2024
Ever since Joe Biden got elected president, questions have been raised over whether he will be healthy enough to run for a second term. Biden is already the oldest president in American history and by the time he’s up for reelection he’ll be nearly 82 years old. Now the White House has put out a statement that says Biden intends to run in 2024. Some people are making this out to be a declarative statement that he’s running but the key word in the announcement is “intends.” What someone plans on doing in 2021 could ultimately be different from what actually happens in 2024. Another factor as to whether Biden will run again is where his approval rating is when it’s time to make the decision. FiveThirtyEight currently has his aggregate approval rating at 42.8% with 51.3% disapproval. If Biden’s still underwater a few years down the line, he may make decide to pass the reigns off to Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, or another Democratic candidate to challenge Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, or whoever the Republicans choose to run in 2024.

A new topic. I predict that on Jan. 6, 2022, there will be an anniversary insurrection, and this time: Trump will be there with bells on his toes. His children will probably be alongside him.
