SHOCK: Right-Wing Poll Says Trump Down 12
Recently, a CNN poll had Donald Trump losing to Joe Biden by an astonishing 14 percentage points. That led to Trump demanding that the poll be taken down and he threatened litigation. Now, one of Trump’s favorite pollsters, which tends to have a right-wing bias, also has the incumbent president down by a sizable margin. A new Rasmussen poll has Donald Trump down by 12 percentage points to Joe Biden, 36% to 48%. Six percent of respondents preferred a third party candidate and 9% were unsure.
While it’s encouraging to see Trump’s popularity sink and see him losing by a lot, our approach needs to be the same. The takeaway is that these polls should not affect people’s voting behavior and no one can be complacent about getting out the vote in November. Much can change between now and November and Trump’s position could very well rebound by then. For now, at least we get to see him meltdown over these abysmal poll numbers.
HUGE: Supreme Court Bans Discrimination Against LGBT Workers
A major Supreme Court decision was made yesterday protecting the rights of LGBT workers. The court ruled that the Civil Rights Act of 1964 protects LGBT individuals as well because matters of sexual orientation and gender identity are inherently linked to sex. Surprisingly, Donald Trump's appointee Neil Gorsuch sided with John Roberts and the four liberal justices, even writing the majority opinion. The ruling will certainly be viewed as a historic moment for LGBT rights in the United States, perhaps the biggest since same-sex marriage became effectively legal in 2015.
Unfortunately, the fight against LGBT folks will continue and those who want to discriminate will change their tactics. Just because someone can’t be fired for being gay or trans, that doesn’t mean an employer may not make up a different reason to blame the termination on. Moreover, the fight still wages on regarding housing protections for LGBT tenants and the impact Trump has had on the courts will last us for a generation. So there is still more work to be done, but certainly yesterday was a major step forward in the pursuit of equal rights.
From yesterday’s show:
Advertisers FLEE Tucker Carlson
Tucker Carlson has been saying incredibly toxic and nonsensical things about the George Floyd protests and the “free market” is taking note. More and more advertisers are deciding to abandon Carlson’s Fox News show because they determine that it’s bad business for them to be associated with his content. Of course, some on the right react like this is a censorship or free speech issue, which it is not. The market is regulating itself here without violence or government intervention. That is supposed to be something conservatives champion.
