Trump Convention Day 1 a Global Humiliation
Yesterday was the first day of the 2020 Republican National Convention. What many of the speakers were doing should have required a 911 call and a 72-hour psych hold, because that’s how outrageous it was. The theme of the night was rich people and trust fund kids talking about the virtues of capitalism and the American dream. Every non-fully-white speaker talked about their racial background and cultural heritage which is the type of identity politics that the right normally decries.
Donald Trump Jr. spoke at the convention last night and was in full propaganda mode for his dad. Don Jr.’s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle also spoke, or rather, screamed uncontrollably for a few minutes. Republican up-and-comers Nikki Haley and Tim Scott also spoke at the convention in favor of the incumbent president. The RNC might be outperforming the DNC so far in production value and optics. But when it comes to policy and substance, the Republicans are far behind.
Don Jr Thinks Trump Loses in November & Gets Indicted
There are multiple reports out that claim that privately, Donald Trump Jr. believes his father is going to lose reelection badly and that members of the Trump family are at risk of indictment and prosecution. The United States does not have a tradition of incarcerating former presidents and their families, but Donald Trump is a very different case. Certainly there are crimes a Biden Justice Department could go after and that is what Don Jr. is worried about here.
This is a really interesting peek behind the curtain. If Donald Trump Jr. thinks there’s a risk of prosecution, it’s likely that Trump Sr. does as well. This likely explains the desperation coming from the Trump campaign. They are throwing every hyperbolic thing they can at Biden — that he’s going to get rid of god, religion, the suburbs, the police, etc. Donald Trump and the entire criminal enterprise is in trouble and they can sense it. They could all very well get prosecuted once out of power, but step one will be voting them out of office in November.
From yesterday’s show:
Twitter FLAGS Trump Tweet for VOTER SUPPRESSION
A tweet by the President of the United States has been flagged by Twitter for violating the rules about “civic and election integrity.” Trump wrote in part, “Democrats are using Mail Drop Boxes, which are a voter security disaster. . . . They are not Covid sanitized. A big fraud!” It’s great that Twitter is doing this, but the damage might have already been done. Trump knows he can’t win on the issues so he has to scare away people from voting in order to win.
