Actual Republican Senator Suggests Mouthwash for COVID
Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson has come up with the latest quack cure for coronavirus and that is mouthwash. Ever since the pandemic began, Republicans have pretended to have the secret miracle cures for COVID which have most notably included hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin. Johnson argued at a tele-town hall on Wednesday that it’s been proven that mouthwash can kill the virus. “A standard gargle of mouthwash has been proven to kill the coronavirus. So even if you get it, you know you may reduce viral replication. Why not try all these things?” There is a kernel of truth in what Johnson is saying which is that if you have the virus in a petri dish and add mouthwash to it, it’ll almost certainly kill the virus. But people who are infected with COVID have it running through their entire breathing system, so using mouthwash is not going to help. Johnson is pretending that this is a legitimate solution for the pandemic and an alternative to getting vaccinated, but it obviously isn’t.
FACT: Biden Has Delivered the Fasted Economic Recovery in History
According to many metrics, Joe Biden has overseen the speediest economic recovery in American history during his first 11 months in office. The economy is now close to full employment, with the unemployment rate down from 6.7% a year ago to 4.2%. Labor force participation is at its highest level since the start of the pandemic. Wages and GDP growth are also up and the stock market is at near record highs. These are all indicators which Republicans claim will provide a holistic look at the economy, and if Donald Trump was in charge right now, they would claim this is the best economy we’ve ever seen. But since Joe Biden is president, they are instead focused on other indicators like supply chain issues and inflation. What hasn’t been good for Biden as of late is polling on how people perceive the economy. In one recent poll, 70% of respondents said that while they personally are doing fine, they feel as though the economy overall is not. In the macro, it’s hard to make the case that the economy is not doing well when an overwhelming majority of the country believe that their personal financial situation is okay. But this goes to show that the right is winning the messaging war on these economic issues and we cannot allow that to continue.

LOL: Newsmax Confirms Employees MUST BE VACCINATED to Go to Party
Newsmax held a holiday party in New York City this week, and they required proof of vaccination in order to attend. The notice that Newsmax sent out read, “city regulations indicate that you will need to show a vaccination card, or photo image of one on your phone, for entrance. a Covid test alone is not sufficient.” The network has made it clear that as a company, they have no vaccine requirement but they still decided to hold this holiday party in New York knowing full well their attendees would be subject to the mandate. One would think that if Newsmax really was against such a requirement that they would take a principled stand and host the party outside of the city or not hold one at all in protest. If anything, this shows that many of these Newsmax hosts are just playing characters on TV, appealing to a far-right Trump-supporting anti-vaxxer audience without actually holding these beliefs themselves.

Trump on Trump Violence: Lin Wood Attacks Marjorie Taylor Greene
There is a serious war unfolding between insane Trumpist attorney Lin Wood and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene. At one point, Wood represented Kyle Rittenhouse in his homicide case before Rittenhouse decided to fire him and go with more serious counsel. One of the reasons why, according to Kyle, is that Wood chose to keep him in jail rather than bail him out as a way to raise more money for his legal defense. Greene, after hearing this, posted to Twitter: “Lin should go to jail for what he did to Kyle. I also fully blame him for why Georgia lost our Senate seats. He’s from Georgia and we know him as a life long Democrat not a Republican. . . .” Now, Wood is saying that he wants to sue Greene for defamation over this statement. Wood told the Daily Beast, “I mean, from a biblical perspective, I think she is under the influence of the devil. Because people that follow Jesus Christ don't lie. Marjorie Taylor Greene is a liar. Draw your own conclusions." What this infighting shows is that what unites these people isn’t really support for conservative policy or Donald Trump. It’s about raising their own personal profiles so they gain more money and influence.
