UH-OH: Republicans Fired for Voter Fraud Operation
Two Republican staffers were recently fired over a possible ballot harvesting operation in Pennsylvania. GOP officials fired Shamus O’Donnell and C.J. Parker who were affiliated with a political action committee called the Republican Registration Coalition. According to a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer, dozens of mail ballots for the upcoming primary were being diverted to a PO box run by the organization the two men worked for. Billy Lanzilotti, the committee’s chairman, said he was doing this as a “service to the voters” and would deliver the ballots by hand to the voters once they arrived, but it’s unclear why this would even be necessary. O’Donnell and Parker declined to comment about their alleged involvement and their terminations. Republicans for the past two years have been complaining about ballot harvesting and voter fraud supposedly being committed by Democrats, but yet this appears to be a clear case of it happening within their own ranks.
Trump Thought China Had a "Hurricane Gun" to Shoot US With
According to an article from the Rolling Stone, Donald Trump was convinced while in office that China had a hurricane gun that the country used to send cyclones to ravage parts of the United States. Trump reportedly asked, “does China have the secret technology — a weapon, even — to create large, man-made hurricanes and then launch them at the United States? And if so, would this constitute an act of war by a foreign power, and could the U.S. retaliate militarily?” A former Trump official said about the idea, “it was almost too stupid for words” but that they “did not get the sense he was joking at all.” In a couple of ways, this crosses over with stories previously reported about Trump: According to Mark Esper’s new book, Trump wanted a reason to bomb Mexico; in this instance Trump wanted to bomb China. And Trump also famously opined about nuking hurricanes as a way to stop them from reaching American shores. If this latest report is accurate, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to learn, but it would be a whole new level of lunacy by the former president.

Republican Senator Called the Cops Over Chalk Writing
Susan Collins, Republican Senator from Maine, decided to call the police on Saturday night because there was a message in chalk written on a public sidewalk outside of her house in Bangor. The message read, “Susie, please, Mainers want WHPA —> vote yes, clean up your mess.” WHPA refers to the Women's Health Protection Act, a bill to codify Roe vs. Wade which failed yesterday in the Senate. Collins reported the message as defacement of public property, even though the chalk could easily be washed away with some water. A spokesperson for the Bangor Police Department said, “the message was not overtly threatening.” Collins said about it, “we are grateful to the Bangor police officers and the city public works employee who responded to the defacement of public property in front of our home.” While it’s one thing to be sensitive about protests outside of people’s homes, it was certainly over the top for Collins to call the police about a non-threatening message written in chalk on the public sidewalk.

Fox Host Spreads "Midterm Variant" COVID Conspiracy
Fox News host Maria Bartiromo has been fixated on the idea that Democrats will manufacture a “midterm variant” of COVID right before the November elections to guarantee they hold onto power in the House and Senate. On her show earlier this week, Bartiromo said, “the Washington Post is reporting more COVID on the horizon in the fall, as I’ve been predicting — the midterm variant.” As we know by now, there’s a seasonality to the virus, so it would make sense that going into the colder months cases could spike yet again. This has nothing to do with a Democratic conspiracy to win the midterms. But even if such a thing were possible, it wouldn’t make sense politically. Voters would be more likely to blame Joe Biden and Democrats for the surge in cases since they’ll have been in power for two years at that point and many people wouldn’t put up with restrictions like masking and vaccine mandates coming back. On so many levels, Maria Bartiromo’s “midterm variant” conspiracy theory doesn’t make any sense.
