Republicans LIE, Say Texas Blackouts Caused by Wind Power
In a desperate and pathetic attempt to blame progressives for everything, right-wingers are now blaming green energy and wind power on the tragic power outages affecting Texas this week. More than two million people are or have been without power in the Lone Star State recently due to extremely low temperatures and snow affecting the power grid. Icy conditions forced some wind turbines to cease operation because Texas did not purchase carbon and heated blades used in places that regularly experience freezing temperatures. Wind power is also only 25% of Texas’s energy mix at this time of year and the majority of outages were caused by frozen instruments at natural gas, coal, and nuclear power plants.
Refusing to take any personal responsibility for the crisis, or even to merely focus on the issue at hand, Texas Governor Greg Abbott went on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show last night to complain about the left. He said the power outage “shows how the Green New Deal would be a deadly deal for the United States of America.” This is all about creating doubt, manufacturing a controversy, and deflecting blame. The governor should be working around the clock to get his residents’ power back on, but instead he is going on propaganda outlets to attack progressives when there is serious work left to be done.
BREAKING: Trump Declares War...on REPUBLICANS!
Donald Trump has responded to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s decision to condemn him for his role in the Capitol riots. Even though McConnell voted not to convict Trump in the Senate impeachment trial, the former president expects nothing but complete loyalty and will turn on anyone who crosses him. This time, Trump could not get his message out as quickly as he was used to during his Twitter days. Instead, he published a letter with the help of his team. Trump decided to ignore the Republican representatives who voted to impeach him and the Republican senators who voted to convict him. Instead he focused entirely on McConnell in the letter, someone who could now have trouble maintaining control over the Republican caucus.
In the letter, Trump said “McConnell’s dedication to business as usual, status quo policies, together with his lack of political insight, wisdom, skill, and personality, has rapidly driven him from Majority Leader to Minority Leader, and it will only get worse.” He went on to write, “Mitch is a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack, and if Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again.” Trump also blamed McConnell for Republicans losing the two runoff elections in Georgia, which was ironic given that Trump was to blame from losing the Senate majority over his bogus election fraud claims. It’s actually Trump who cost the Republican Party the House in 2018, the presidency in 2020, and the Senate in 2021.
From yesterday’s show:
COVID Cases Down 64%, 2.2+ Million Vaccines in ONE DAY
Coronavirus cases in the United States are plummeting in what could be the conclusion of the winter case wave. The average daily case count went from around 250,000 cases per day just a month ago, to now an average of about 90,000 new cases per day. This is encouraging news and all the more reason to stay the course with mitigation measures like mask-wearing and social distancing. Part of the reason for the decline has to do with an increasing portion of the population that has now been vaccinated at least once. When Joe Biden took office, he promised to deliver one million vaccine doses per day. The administration has so far been well surpassing that, sometimes even getting up to two million inoculations per day. If current trends continue, half the US population will be at least partially vaccinated by June.
