COVID-Trump Threatens to Kiss Audience at Degenerate Rally
Over the long weekend, Donald Trump held his first rally since coming down with coronavirus. There was speculation by some that the President getting the virus would humble him and make him realize he should stop holding super-spreader events. Clearly that didn’t happen. His packed rally took place yesterday in Sanford, Florida and there were very few masks in sight. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was in attendance, high-fiving rally-goers and then wiping his nose in a display of idiocy.
During the speech, Trump appeared completely manic. The speculation is that he is still on dexamethasone, a steroid prescribed to him for COVID-19 that has side effects including mania and delusions of grandeur. Trump certainly spoke at a faster rate than normal and sounded almost euphoric, at one point telling the audience he wants to kiss everyone: “I'll walk in there, kiss everyone in that audience. I'll kiss the guys and the beautiful women.” Trump spread disinformation about being “immune” and having the “cure” for the virus. Hopefully after the election, when the Trump rallies end, the United States can begin to take a more adult approach to battling the pandemic.
WARNING: Biden WORSE Than Hillary in Key Trump States
Twenty-one days out from the 2020 election, we have to make sure that we’re not being over-confident and that we vote no matter what the polls say. There is no doubt that the polls are looking great for Joe Biden, especially the national polls. However, the polling also looked quite good for Hillary Clinton at this stage of the race in 2016. In fact, in three of the key swing states integral to Trump pulling off his last victory, Clinton was polling even with or better than Biden right now. Those states are Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, all which Trump surprisingly won by narrow margins in 2016.
In Michigan, Hillary Clinton was up by 10.7% at this point in the race and now Biden is up by 7% according to the Real Clear Politics average. In Pennsylvania, Clinton was up 6.7% and now Biden leads by 7.1%, which is practically the same lead. And in Wisconsin, Clinton was also up 6.7% at this time and now Biden is up only 6.1%. It’s likely that polling models have improved over the past four years to account for the “silent Trump supporter” so they could indeed be more accurate this time. But with all that’s at stake in this election, being up in the polls cannot be an excuse to forgo casting a ballot on or before November 3rd.
From over the weekend:
KEY RACES to Take Back the Senate
A live caller asks about which Senate races will be crucial for Democrats to win back the upper chamber. To pull it off, Democrats will need to win at least four Senate seats or three plus the presidency, since the Vice President votes in instances of a tie. Currently, the most competitive races are in Iowa, Maine, North Carolina, and Georgia. Montana, Kansas, and South Carolina are also close, and Mark Kelly of Arizona is likely to win his race, inching the Democrats one step closer. FiveThirtyEight currently lists the Democrats’ odds of taking the Senate at 69%.
