Bonkers Trump Admits to Crime While Pushing "Deep State" Conspiracy
Donald Trump appeared Sunday night on Mark Levin’s Fox News program and managed to implicate himself in a crime. Trump told Levin that he fired FBI Director James Comey back in 2017 because if he didn’t, he believed he would have been removed early from the presidency. The purpose for the interview ostensibly was so that Trump could promote his new picture book, Our Journey Together. Trump told Levin that he wouldn’t have been able to ”write” the book if not for that fateful decision he made early on in his presidency: “Don’t forget, I fired Comey. Had I not fired Comey, you might not be talking to me right now about a beautiful book about four years in the White House and we’ll see about the future.” This is obstruction of justice, a charge the Mueller report said that Congress should pursue against the former president because there was a great deal of evidence for it. Now, Trump has admitted to it and is no longer hiding behind bogus excuses over why he made the decision. There haven’t been any legal or criminal consequences against Trump since he took the political spotlight, despite the fact that he’s been worthy of many. The result is someone who feels invincible and emboldened to the point where he’s straight up willing to admit to committing crimes on national television.
It's Looking Like Omicron is LESS Severe
The Omicron variant, which has caused worldwide turmoil and panic over the past two weeks, may not be as severe as initially suspected. While Omicron appears to be as or more contagious than Delta, it appears that it’s not leading to a great deal of hospitalizations and deaths. The dream scenario would be that Omicron is more of a cold than a serious virus and has only around a 1% death rate, but time will tell. NIAID’s Dr. Anthony Fauci said about the Omicron variant on CNN last weekend, “thus far, it does not look like there’s a great degree of severity to it. But we have really got to be careful before we make any determinations that it is less severe or it really doesn’t cause any severe illness, comparable to Delta.” The truth is that it’s going to be a few more weeks before we know conclusively about the risk of this strain versus Delta and the previous ones. If there is still no spike in hospitalizations and deaths following the spike in infections, that suggests that Omicron won’t be of great concern relative to the other threats the public has weathered throughout this pandemic.
From yesterday’s show:
COVID Death Rate THREE TIMES HIGHER in Trump Counties
The death rate for COVID-19 is now three times higher in counties that voted 70% for Donald Trump versus counties that voted only 30% for Trump. This data goes back to May of 2021 when the vaccines became widely available to everyone. Over the last few weeks, the gap has shrunk a little bit, but super red counties are still experiencing a five and a half times higher death rate than ultra-blue counties. Even when controlling for age, there is still a dramatically higher death rate in the Trump areas. The main reason for the discrepancy is the vaccination rates among supporters of these two presidents. Studies show that Republicans, and specifically Trump supporters, are among those least likely to get vaccinated for COVID-19. It’s tragic to see this amount of unnecessary death, as in many of these cases where people in these red counties are dying, a vaccine could have saved their lives. If this trend continues, this public health tragedy for the nation could turn to a political tragedy for Republicans as they see their voter base die off at disproportionately higher rates. Maybe, if nothing else, that will get conservative thought leaders to encourage their supporters to finally get themselves immunized.
From yesterday’s show:
Marjorie Taylor Greene FURIOUS That US Doesn't Shut Down for Cancer
Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is back at it providing dumb analogies about COVID-19. In the past, she has compared vaccine requirements for workers to when Nazi’s forced Jewish people to wear yellow stars. Now, Greene is saying that the response to coronavirus is out of place when compared to the public health approach to cancer. She tweeted over the weekend, “every single year more than 600,000 people in the US die from cancer. The country has never once shut down. Not a single school has closed. And every year, over 600,000 people, of all ages and all races will continue to die from cancer.” Greene went on to compare that number with the nearly 800,000 confirmed COVID deaths in the US since the start of the pandemic, making the point that the responses to the two diseases are out of whack. This is incredibly easy to unravel and it’s shocking that in this point in the pandemic, Greene doesn’t understand this. But COVID is a contagious, communicable virus whereas cancer, though serious and potentially deadly, is not. The analysis is so simple and yet Marjorie Taylor Greene really thought she was on to something with this tweet.
