Triggered Trump Demands Apology Over Poll Saying He's Losing
Yesterday we told you that a new CNN poll has Donald Trump losing to Joe Biden by an astounding 14 points, 41% to 55%. Trump, as expected, was furious over the results and had a pollster of his own call into question the methodology of the CNN poll. Trump has now started to make legal threats, demanded that the poll be retracted, and demanded that CNN apologize to him. CNN refused and stood by the results of their poll.
What’s stunning about this is that it sounds like what would take place in an authoritarian country, not the United States. It’s what one might expect from North Korea, or Venezuela, or Russia, or China. Trump demanding a retraction and apology from CNN goes to show he really wants to rule as a dictator, not a president. Trump is also denying reality here and seems to think public opinion about him can change by suing CNN. It’s amazing someone who can’t understand that was elected President.
Kayleigh McEnany Defends Trump Attack on 75-Year-Old
Donald Trump has been promoting a baseless conspiracy theory about Martin Gugino, the 75-year-old protester who was shoved to the ground by Buffalo police. A completely speculative story run by OANN accusing Gugino of being an Antifa operative was enough to convince Trump of the allegation. White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany was asked about this and said the President was only raising questions and that Gugino’s character needs to be questioned because he has posted tweets with swear words in them.
Even applying a rudimentary level of critical thinking to McEnany’s claims dismantles her bogus arguments. First of all, the President of the United States should not be blurting out baseless allegations about an elderly man who was recently attacked by police. Secondly, the police officers couldn’t have possibly known Gugino had tweeted swear words in the past. And thirdly, why would that even matter? This is the best McEnany could come up with because there really is no valid defense of this. Trump’s behavior is so unhinged and his lies are so transparent that it’s impossible for any press secretary to defend him.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump SILENT on Coronavirus as Infections Explode
As the country starts to open up and the media begin to focus on other topics, it’s important to point out that there still is a pandemic happening. Coronavirus cases are still growing in the US by about 20,000 cases per day and of course, there’s no cure or vaccine at the ready. All of this would leave one to suggest that the President would be regularly discussing the clear and present threat to public health. But lately, Donald Trump has been silent on the virus and it’s likely to stay that way.
