Joe Manchin KILLS Build Back Better on Fox News
The current iteration of the Build Back Better bill is dead, as West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin said over the weekend that he will not be supporting it. Manchin went on Fox News Sunday and told Bret Baier that he won’t be voting for the $1.9 trillion social spending package championed by Joe Biden and most of his fellow Democrats. He said, “I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation, I just can’t. I’ve tried everything humanly possible, I can’t get there.” Manchin explained that he wouldn’t be able to explain a “yes” vote to his constituents in West Virginia, which doesn’t make sense give it would provide tangible benefits to them including cutting health care costs and providing families with child tax credits and universal preschool. Later on in the day, a statement released by his office expressed concern about how quickly the legislation would transition the country away from the use of fossil fuels. Absent from the statement was how Manchin has made millions off his investments in multiple coal companies and how that may be the reason for his disapproval. Hopefully the West Virginia senator will get back to the negotiating table in the new year because barring a Republican crossing over, his vote will be needed to get this legislation passed in any form whatsoever.
Tucker Carlson Whines About The Military Not Being 'Manly' Enough
Fox News host Tucker Carlson had fellow right-wing commentator Jesse Kelly on his program last Friday and the pair complained about the United States military supposedly not being “manly enough.” This is part of the right’s attempt to make every aspect of American life a part of the culture war they so desperately want to focus on. Kelly said, “we don’t need a military that’s women-friendly, we don’t need a military that’s gay-friendly, with all due respect to the Air Force. We need a military that’s flat-out hostile. We need a military full of type A men who want to sit on a throne of Chinese skulls. But we don’t have that now.” In typical fashion, Tucker nodded along as his guest went on this bizarre rant that managed to wrap up misogamy, homophobia, and Chinese xenophobia all into one. It’s a total myth that US military is suffering and unable to win battles because it’s comprised of too many people who aren’t straight and male. Folks like Carlson and Kelly claim as though the left are obsessed with these issues of “wokeness” yet it’s them who can’t stop covering these stories and build up a boogeyman that doesn’t exist.

Pathetic Trump / Bill O'Reilly Show Half-Empty
Donald Trump is doing a tour with disgraced former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly and the turnout has so far been completely embarrassing. At a recent event in Sunrise, Florida, the crowd was so empty that the fans in the upper decks were told to come down to the lower level for no additional charge. Sales for the tickets were so terrible that tickets could be purchased right before the show started for a mere $3 in many sections. On the way out, Bill O’Reilly’s media team got some hilarious interviews with people. One guest said that O’Reilly was “middle of the road” and that he “doesn’t pick sides” when it comes to politics. Perhaps this person hasn’t seen O’Reilly’s work before or the guest is so far right that he can’t recognize that O’Reilly has always been a staunch conservative. Another guest said she was appreciative of the event because normally Trump “can go a bit off on tangents and perhaps repeat some of the things that we all know but Bill tried to make it a little different.” These events will likely continue to draw sparse, unenthusiastic crowds leaving the former president most likely regretting his decision to agree to do them.
From over the weekend:
Republican Senator Says He Won Fairly, But Biden Didn't, on SAME BALLOTS
Last week on NBC’s Meet the Press, host Chuck Todd confronted Kansas Senator Roger Marshall about the 2020 election. Marshall is one of a chorus of Republican lawmakers who have backed up Donald Trump’s doubts about last year’s race being fraudulent and illegitimate. Marshall said to Todd that he wants “to stand up for election integrity” and that he’s “focused right now on making it easier to vote and harder to cheat.” Todd followed up by asking the senator whether he believed he rightfully won his race in Kansas last year, to which Marshall responded, “absolutely I do.” But then when asked if he believes Joe Biden won fairly and squarely, Marshall couldn’t answer the question as directly and all he could muster up was “Joe Biden was sworn into office. I called him Mr. President since the day he was sworn in.” These Republicans want to have it both ways, accepting the results of the elections they won while refusing to accept that Biden won and Trump simply lost.
