Trump Tells Republicans NOT to Vote in 2022 & 2024
Donald Trump is threatening to tell his supporters not to vote in the next election cycles if Republican politicians don’t make a bigger deal out of supposed “voter fraud.” In one of his “official statements,” which are basically just tweets on a different platform, Trump said: “If we don’t solve the Presidential Election Fraud of 2020 (which we have thoroughly and conclusively documented), Republicans will not be voting in ‘22 or ‘24. It is the single most important thing for Republicans to do.” It would probably be unethical for progressives to tell Trump supporters not to vote because we want to encourage everyone to participate in democracy (and they wouldn’t listen to us anyway). But if Trump himself is willing to send this message to his supporters, it would be hard for folks on the left not to revel in that. A message like this from Trump could depress support for Republican candidates just enough for Democrats to have a successful midterm season and maybe even 2024 campaign. One of the reasons Democrats were able to win back the Senate this term was because they won the two runoff elections in Georgia, when Trump depressed his party’s own turnout by telling people the elections were rigged. Certainly the former president is just using this as a negotiating tactic, but it’s one that in the end could just so happen to help Democrats and progressives.
Still No Evidence That COVID Vaccines Caused Even ONE Death
Anti-vaxxers continue to claim that the COVID vaccines have resulted in people dying and so it’s important to provide a reminder that there is still no evidence of a single person in the United States dying from the shots. On occasion, anti-vaxxers will point to people who got vaccinated and then died sometime after, but that obviously doesn’t mean they died because they took the vaccine. Hundreds of millions of vaccines have been administered at this point and some of the people who have gotten them have since died because thousands of Americans die every single day. Similarly, some vaccinated people are getting breakthrough cases of COVID and a small percentage of those people are dying from the virus. But this does not mean that they died because they took the vaccine — in fact, they likely had a higher chance of survival because they took it. Some people reference VAERS, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, yet ignore that anyone can submit anything on there and none of the claims need to be verified or proven. On the other hand, we know that at least 700,000 Americans have died from COVID since the start of the pandemic and at this point, the vast majority of the people dying are unvaccinated.

MyPillow Mike Lindell Says 850-Year Old Person Voted in 2020
MyPillow guy Mike Lindell has some new conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and they refer to the long debunked claims about dead people voting. Lindell said that 2,000 people who voted in the election were over the age of 200. He said on his Lindell TV talk show that, “one guy was 850 years old, okay. And these are facts, you can get them from your own state’s thing.” It would be great to know the name of the supposedly 850-year-old person who voted and the state they allegedly voted in, but sadly Lindell did not provide that information to his audience and instead told them to look it up themselves. Of course, Lindell isn’t really suggesting that someone who’s that old voted. He’s saying that someone fraudulently voted in the place of someone whose records show they lived nearly a millennium ago. But this person would have lived long before the United States even existed, so there would be no way for such an individual to have registered to vote. If there is actually a record of an 850-year-old voting, it’s probably just a clerical error on the date of birth. That’s what so many of these claims about dead people voting boil down to. Sometimes it’s a senior being confused with a junior when a father and son have the same name. In this case, the birth year could have erroneously said 1170 instead of 1970. Lindell will have to keep trying, but it seems as though he might be running out of material to work with.

More Inflation, Shortages Feared?
Fears have ramped up in recent months about inflation and supply shortages as the nation still tries to move beyond the economic ramifications of the COVID-19 pandemic. It remains to be seen whether the relatively high levels of inflation are here to stay or if they will soon return to pre-pandemic norms of around two to three percent annually. The consumer price index went up 0.4% in September after rising 0.3% in August. If you remove food and energy costs, prices are up only a modest 0.1% to 0.2% percent monthly, however food and energy are certainly large expenses especially for lower and middle class Americans relative to their income. Oil and gas prices are now at their highest since 2014. Worker shortages and cost of living adjustments have resulted in higher wages with the government reporting the highest raise in average hourly earnings in seven months. With many positions in the job market remaining open and other conditions not yet changing, wages are expected to rise even further over the next few months. While some level of inflation is good, out of control inflation is not, and it remains to be seen where prices and goods will go as we go into 2022.
