Shockingly Dumb Republican: Trump Supporters The REAL Victims of Trump Riot
Republican Congressman Jody Hice of Georgia is not exactly an intelligent guy and he made that clear once again yesterday during a hearing for the House Oversight Committee. The committee held a hearing on the January 6th Capitol riots, including what went wrong, why Capitol Police were underprepared, and how to stop a similar event from happening in the future. Hice saw this hearing as an opportunity to show his constituents that he stood with the rioters on January 6th. When it came time for him to speak, the congressman said something that took an awful lot of revisionist history to get to. He opened by arguing Donald Trump could not have incited the riot given the timing of his speech. Hice went on to say, “it was Trump supporters who lost their lives that day, not Trump supporters who were taking the lives of others.”
Some of the Trump supporters Hice was referencing died due to medical incidents including a heart attack and a stroke. Another death was that of Ashley Babbitt, who was shot by police after getting close to breaching the House chamber. Police officers were cleared from wrongdoing in her death because they believed they were operating in self-defense and had to protect lawmakers who were still evacuating the lower chamber. In any other scenario these right wingers would be saying this was a justifiable police shooting. They would normally be more sympathetic towards law enforcement, but in this instance that contradicts their pro-Trump narrative (which comes first). But the key thing Hice is wrong about is that the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol were not victims. They were engaging in a soft coup attempt by trying to overturn the results of a free and fair election. The victims in this case were those put in harms way that day, including Capitol Police officers, members of Congress, and congressional staff. The pro-Trump rioters and those who inspired them were responsible for the events that took place that day.
Trump Defense Secy: Trump Did NOT Approve Natl Guard to Riots for HOURS
The former acting Defense Secretary under Donald Trump, Chris Miller, testified before Congress yesterday about the timeline of events on January 6th in Washington DC. Miller was questioned by New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez about his former boss’s reluctance to call in the National Guard on that day. Miller testified that it took three hours after the riots began for the guard to get authorization to clear the building. That clearance came from Mike Pence and not from Donald Trump. Miller first tried to say the authorization order didn’t happen until 3 pm, two hours after Trumpists first breached the Capitol. But further questioning revealed that authorization didn’t come until much later. Miller had a conversation with Mike Pence that day at 4:08 pm, and according to the DoD, that’s when he got verbal authorization to bring in the National Guard. That was nearly three hours after it was first requested by DC Mayor Muriel Bowser. Certainly, the president at the time could have called in the military earlier, but he didn’t want to because he liked what the mob was doing.

LOL: NYC Mayor Candidates Think Brooklyn Houses Cost $100,000
New York City mayoral candidates were interviewed by the New York Times Editorial Board and some came across looking completely out of touch with middle and working class people. One of the questions asked of the candidates was about whether they knew the median sales prices of a home in Brooklyn — which is $900,000. Some of the candidates were way off in their guesses. Shaun Donovan, who was Barack Obama’s Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, guessed it would be around $100,000. Investment banker and former Citigroup executive Raymond McGuire guessed the cost would be about $80,000 or $90,000. Some of the frontrunners in the race did much better, with Andrew Yang getting the answer correct and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams guessing $550,000. But it’s clear that at least some of these candidates really have no grasp on the issues facing New York and why so many are struggling to afford the city’s ever-increasing housing costs.
