Trump Impeachment Lawyer HUMILIATED, Trump FURIOUS
Yesterday was day one of the second Senate impeachment trial of Donald Trump. The argument of the day was over whether it was constitutional for the Senate to go forward with the case, since Trump is no longer the sitting president, and thus cannot be removed from office. Democratic impeachment managers put together a superb presentation, including video clips from the insurrection itself, as well as slides to demonstrate the precedent that exists for trying former federal officeholders. Congressmen Jamie Raskin and Joe Neguse did so well that it caught Trump’s defense lawyers off guard. One Trump attorney, Bruce Castor, admitted that they had to change their defense strategy in real time because they found the impeachment managers’ presentation to be “well done.”
In contrast, Trump’s lawyers rambled and argued the weakest of points in what was an embarrassment of a defense. Castor spent much of his time bloviating about how great senators are, how people know their senators, and how he happens to have a good relationship with his own senators. Castor went on to say that the Department of Justice could arrest Trump if they find his conduct to be criminal, which is not the best defense of a client. Also, he admitted that Joe Biden won the 2020 election fairly by making the point that the American people were able to change administrations since they didn’t like the last one. The other lawyer for Trump, David Schoen, did not do much better. According to CNN, Trump was furious with the weak defense, reportedly “borderline screaming over what was going on.”
Sarah Palin's DEVASTATING Interview with Piers Morgan
Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin went on Good Morning Britain this week to be interviewed by Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid. The matter at hand was the start of the impeachment trial of former US President Donald Trump. Palin opened the exchange by saying “these idiots that stormed the Capitol” are blaming Trump because they are unable to take personal responsibility for their actions. She downplayed Trump’s words at the Ellipse and the two months of false voter fraud claims that led to the insurrection on January 6th. Morgan argued that the thousands of people who went into the Capitol were whipped up by Trump, but Palin wanted to focus instead on the thousands of people at the rally that day that didn’t try to violently dismantle the democratic process.
The interview truly went off the rails when Piers asked the former governor about whether or not Joe Biden fairly won the 2020 election. Palin sidestepped the question and said “I know that shenanigans do take place in elections.” That answer did not satisfy the anchors and so they kept pressing on. Morgan asked “where is the fraud?” Palin stumbled and rambled about “shenanigans” and “dead people voting” but could not provide a straight answer. Piers called out Palin for “talking nonsense” before ending the interview. This was an absolute embarrassment for Palin, but it’s what these Trump cronies deserve for continuing to propagate the “big lie.”
From yesterday’s show:
COVID Cases Down 56%, Vaccines Hit 2 MILLION Per Day
Coronavirus in the United States could be on its way out if current trends continue. The average new case count in America is now around 110,000 per day, which is a 56% decline from the peak on January 11th. If cases continue to go down at the same rate, there will be an average of 48,000 new daily cases by the beginning of March. However, this does not take into account the variant strains that could become dominant in the US in the next couple of months. It also appears that deaths are leveling out to around 3,000 per day. Since deaths are a lagging indicator of cases, the decline in cases will likely mean a plummeting in daily deaths coming in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, the US is giving out an average of 1.46 million vaccine doses per day, far beyond the Biden administration’s prediction of what they could do when they took office three weeks ago.
