Trump Sends DERANGED Letter About Impeachment
Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial begins today in what is expected to be a speedy process resulting in another acquittal. This time, Trump is being tried on a single article of impeachment — incitement of insurrection. Seventeen Republican senators would need to break ranks to convict the former president but it’s unlikely there will be more than five. Democratic impeachment managers are expected to show a bunch of video of the Capitol insurrection on January 6th to remind lawmakers of the horror that day. They also don’t expect to bring many witnesses, with the idea that senators were witnesses themselves to what took place that day.
The former President’s legal team put out a statement arguing that the impeachment trial was unconstitutional because Trump is no longer in office. They wrote, “this process will provide us with an opportunity to explain to Senators why it is absurd and unconstitutional to hold an impeachment trial against a private citizen.” Determining whether the Senate trial is constitutional really isn’t up to the accused person or even the senators. Courts would need to rule that the trial breaks the law, which they have not done and don’t seem to have any intention of doing. While Trump is the first former president to face an impeachment trial, it has happened to other former federal officeholders. Trump’s lawyers and most Republican senators are hung up on this point because they don’t want to have to debate the merits about whether Trump deserves to be convicted and banned from holding public office.
Even FOX HOST Won't Accept Rand Paul's Ridiculous Trump Argument
Republican Kentucky Senator Rand Paul went on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace to discuss the second impeachment trial of Donald Trump. Paul began the discussion by arguing the trial was unconstitutional, which Wallace objected to. The Fox anchor pointed out that any federal officeholder facing impeachment and conviction could resign at the last minute in order to avoid being banned from holding public office in the future. Paul also argued that as a private citizen, Trump can face personal repercussions but impeachment ought to be off the table. These two things are not mutually exclusive, since Trump can both be convicted by the Senate and at the same time, face consequences criminally or in the eyes of the public.
Rand Paul gave other pathetic excuses as to why the Senate should not hold a trial against former President Trump. One of them was because Trump’s approval rating plummeted after the insurrection and so he has suffered enough. That’s like saying someone shouldn’t be put in jail for robbing a bank if they first lose their job and friends over it. Paul pretended for years to be a constitutional scholar and originalist, but it turns out he’s just another Trump brown-noser like most of the other Republicans in Washington DC.

Fox Abruptly CANCELS Lou Dobbs Show
Fox Business has canceled one of its highest-rated shows, Lou Dobbs Tonight. Dobbs was one of the most sycophantic Trump supporters on staff for Fox during the former president’s tenure and he fought on the front lines to get the 2020 election overturned. Dobbs went after Smartmatic and Dominion Voting Systems, alleging they were complicit or helped orchestrate voter fraud around the country. Now these companies are going after people like Sydney Powell and Rudy Giuliani for more than a billion dollars in damages. They have also forced Fox News and Newsmax into having to read statements retracting their previous fraud claims and ensuring their audiences that nothing nefarious happened with the voting machines. Fox’s decision to cut ties with Dobbs suggests the network wants to avoid litigation by any means possible, including by sacrificing one of their most-watched anchors.
