Michael Flynn Calls for Trump to Execute Military Coup
Michael Flynn, Trump’s former national security adviser, is calling for the president to orchestrate a military coup to hold onto power despite losing the election. Flynn endorsed a call on Twitter from the We The People Convention arguing that Trump should invoke martial law and hold a new election. Martial law is when the military takes control of functions normally handled by civilian government. Typically this is done for emergencies or for really extenuating circumstances, not something like an incumbent president losing reelection. Flynn was pardoned by Trump last week over charges related to Robert Mueller’s investigation into contacts between Russia and Trump’s 2016 campaign.
What Michael Flynn is doing by endorsing a coup, is sedition — at least colloquially speaking. Sedition is defined as “conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.” This call is especially absurd coming from Flynn, who is a retired US Army lieutenant general. Members of the military take an oath to “defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” But in this instance, Flynn doesn’t care about that. He, like many Trumpists, will continue to put their dear leader before the country.
Sean Hannity Pushing Trump to Pardon HIMSELF
Fox News propagandist Sean Hannity had former Trump legal team member Sidney Powell on his program to discuss voter fraud in the 2020 election. Perhaps the most interesting part of the exchange was when they brought up presidential pardons. Powell said that Trump’s pardon power is absolute although it’s so far unclear whether or not a president has the power to pardon themselves. Even Sidney Powell, who was kicked off the Trump voter fraud legal team for being too wacky, believes that Trump may not have the power to pardon himself over any and all potential crimes. Sean Hannity went a step further and encouraged Trump to go along with it to protect himself from Biden’s Justice Department.
Trump has spoken before about pardoning himself. In June of 2018 he posted on Twitter, "As has been stated by numerous legal scholars, I have the absolute right to PARDON myself, but why would I do that when I have done nothing wrong? In the meantime, the never ending Witch Hunt, led by 13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats (& others) continues into the mid-terms!" The constitutionality of such a move hasn’t been weighed out yet but maybe it will if/when Trump pardons himself. The topic is much more disputed than Trump and conies would have you believe. Regardless, these are not the words and actions of an innocent man.
From yesterday’s show:
9/11 In a Single Day: 2,833 Dead of Coronavirus Yesterday
The coronavirus pandemic in the United States is surging out of control. The daily case numbers are now over 200,000 and the deaths are at nearly 3,000 per day. Both in cases and in death, the US is doing worse than it did during the spring wave. We are now at about 100,000 people hospitalized with COVID nationally, which is a record. Willingness to comply with social distancing guidelines is not as high as it was during the first wave, which means the US could be set up for absolute disaster in the next couple of months. Vaccines are around the corner so it’s possible things can start getting back to normal by next summer. But in the meantime, the virus is getting much worse all around the country.

Regarding the issue of martial law, this is what you should have reported, David.
“ Former national security advisor Michael Flynn shared an ad this week calling on President Donald Trump to "suspend the Constitution," declare martial law, and have the military hold a new election.
The ad came from Tom Zawistowski, the president of a right-wing Ohio activist group called the We the People Convention (WTPC). In the ad, Zawistowski asked Trump "to exercise the Extraordinary Powers of his office and declare limited Martial Law to temporarily suspend the Constitution and civilian control of these federal elections in order to have the military implement a national re-vote that reflects the true will of the people."
Fact check
* Zawistowski's demand is not based in reality. The president does not have the power to unilaterally cancel, delay, postpone, or change the date of an election, even if he declares martial law. That power lies with Congress.
* Declaring martial law also does not suspend the Constitution, and the military has no role in administering elections. Even if it did, it would not be able to "implement a national re-vote" because the right to vote is not specified in the Constitution or by a federal statute.
* The November general election also reflected the "true will of the people." In addition to notching 306 Electoral College votes (a candidate needs 270 to win), President-elect Joe Biden won the national popular vote, with nearly 81 million votes compared with Trump's 74 million.
To report this news without fact checking only serves to create more fear for Biden supporters on top of what Trump has already created since he lost the election and a stronger sense of entitlement for the idiot Maga heads who would like nothing more than a revolution and crown Trump in “King of America.”
