Trump Eviscerated by Biden in Brutal Final Debate
The second and final 2020 presidential debate took place last night between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Former Vice President Biden brought his A game, ready to attack Trump on his failures and able to express a vision on how to move forward on coronavirus, climate change, and other issues. President Trump was able to tone down his behavior this time, but he still used his typical talking points that sound crazy and don’t appeal to anyone except his most ardent supporters. The first thirty minutes were about the coronavirus and the economic recession, both excellent topics for the left and Joe Biden was ready to speak on them.
Trump tried at several points to hurl the Hunter Biden attack at the former VP, but every time it fell flat. Each time, Biden was able to counter with an example of Trump’s corruption, including his tax issues, and it put the President on the defensive. When Trump blamed Democrats for issues in the country, Biden said he would be an American president and not think of the country in terms of red states and blue states. All in all, Trump needed a decisive victory in this debate to launch a comeback and he couldn’t even pull off a tie.
Will Florida Be the 2020 Decider for Trump vs Biden?
A live caller asks about the importance of Florida in the 2020 election. Florida has twenty-nine electoral votes and it’s always a contentious state. FiveThirtyEight says Florida has a 14% chance of being the tipping point in the election. Joe Biden can win the race without winning Florida, but then he would need to carry most of the rust belt states. There is a chance that in an election so close, Republicans, who control the state government, will meddle in the election and we could have a disaster scenario like in 2000. Florida’s count on election night will be a great early indicator of how long it’s going to take to find out who won.
From yesterday’s show:
EXPLOSION: 1200+ Americans Dead of Coronavirus in One Day
The third spike of coronavirus cases is happening now. The first one took place in April, followed by a second one in July, and now the US is getting an average of 70,000 new cases per day. We suspected this would happen and Anthony Fauci predicts it could get as bad as over 100,000 new cases every day. The death numbers are also going up, with over 1,200 people dying on Wednesday. While it’s true that doctors are now better at treating the virus, with so many cases, a high death count is inevitable. As much as Trump and some on the right try to deny it, the fall wave is here and as Joe Biden said in the debate, it could be a “dark winter” in America.
