Trump Says He "Came Up With" Vaccine in Painful Interview
Donald Trump went on Maria Bartiromo’s Fox News show in what was another pathetic attempt to get the country to give him credit for coronavirus metrics finally improving in the United States. People have been asking the former president to encourage his followers to get the vaccine, which he finally did during this interview. But Trump added that “we have our freedoms, and we have to live by that. And I agree with that also.” Trump went on to repeat the claim that if it wasn’t for him, it would have taken five years to get a coronavirus vaccine developed, something that is laughably untrue when considering drug companies in the US and around the world were able to do it without him.
He also decided to relitigate the results of the 2020 election, saying “our Supreme Court and our courts didn't have the courage to overturn elections” and claimed he won by “hundreds of thousands and even millions of votes.” Bartiromo was desperate to get Trump off of this topic, possibly because she was trying to avoid a lawsuit against the network. Trump went on to criticize Biden’s immigration policy and repeated the claim that the border wall was nearly completed before the new administration took over. He also weighed in on the Meghan Merkel controversy, taking the side of the British monarchy. While the interview appearances have slowed down since Trump left office, they have remained just as inane and lie-riddled.
BREAKING: Biden Says He Supports Filibuster Reform
President Biden announced in an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that he wants to reform the filibuster to allow Democrats to get more legislation passed. The new president stopped short of saying he wanted to eliminate the filibuster entirely, but said he would want to make the obstruction process in the Senate harder by requiring an actual talking filibuster. Right now, forty senators can indefinitely extend debate on a topic simply by asking, which prevents ever voting on that topic. In the past, senators actually had to hold the floor and speak for hours and hours to delay a bill. The idea that Biden is suggesting, and that others have mentioned, is to require the actual speaking to take place once again, so that senators can't just extend debate endlessly without putting in the work.
A change like this would require Republicans to actually organize and to have back-to-back-to-back speakers if they wanted to obstruct a bill. The possible downside to this would be that talking filibusters tend to draw media attention which is the type of thing that blatant obstructionists want. The Republican Party is so propagandized that they might want to do endless talking filibusters at this point. But change needs to happen one way or another because Democrats are not going to be able to get sixty votes in the Senate for the vast majority of their agenda items. If they can effectively gut the filibuster, Democrats will be able to pass much more of what they want. That is, provided that they can keep the party in agreement so they can have Vice President Harris break the tie in the 50-50 US Senate.

Report: Biden Planning 1st Major "Tax Increase" in 30 Years
There is a report from Bloomberg News that President Biden is planning on passing into law the biggest tax increase in thirty years. Biden and Democrats want to undo much of the tax decreases approved by Republican presidents over the years, including those approved by Bush and Trump. The added burden would fall heavily on the richest Americans who have been the beneficiaries of massive tax cuts over the years. The Biden tax plan would reportedly include increasing the top rate for those who make over $400,000 per year, expanding the estate tax, and reducing tax preferences on pass-through businesses. The plan would also increase the capital gains and corporate tax rates. It would likely not take effect until 2022.
