FBI Raids Home of Fake Trump Elector
On Wednesday, the FBI raided the homes of Brad Carver, a Republican official in Georgia who allegedly signed a document claiming to be a Trump elector, and Thomas Lane, a Trump campaign official who allegedly attempted to overturn the election results in Arizona and New Mexico. Federal agents have also delivered subpoenas to several people involved in Donald Trump’s scheme to overturn the results of the 2020 election. While some have argued that Trump and his co-conspirators have not been held accountable for their attempts to illegally remain in power, these raids indicate that the investigation is well underway and quickly gaining steam.
Marjorie Taylor Greene to British Reporter: “Go Back To Your Country”
During a press conference on Wednesday, a British journalist pressed Marjorie Taylor Greene on the disparity in gun violence between the U.S. and the U.K. “We don’t have mass shootings in the U.K.,” the reporter said, “our children are not afraid to go to school.” Flanked by six other pro-gun House Republicans, Greene shot back “you have mass stabbings, lady.” As the journalist protested, Greene interrupted “go back to your own country!” Statistically speaking, the United States has roughly ten mass shootings (defined as an event where four or more people are shot) per week. Although knife-related crimes are on the rise in the U.K., they rarely result in death or hospitalization, with overall levels of crime having fallen by about a quarter since 2013. Conversely, America’s homicide rate is four times higher than the U.K., with 80% of homicides resulting from firearms. Although Greene’s assertions can easily be debunked, those on the right will continue to celebrate her ignorance and xenophobia.
From yesterday’s show:
New Jan 6 Evidence Emerges, Alters Hearing Schedule
New evidence obtained by Alex Holder’s documentary footage of the January 6th attack has prompted the committee to postpone the televised hearings pending further review. The decision to postpone the hearings was not taken lightly by the committee. Ratings show that at least 20 million Americans watched the first night of primetime hearings, with an additional 11 million Americans watching the first session of daytime hearings. This indicates that the new evidence they’ve obtained is so overwhelming that it warrants such a delay. Rep. Bennie Thompson, who chairs the committee, describes the footage as “important,” but did not elaborate further. However, we expect that the forthcoming revelations will be significant given the risk involved in delaying the hearings. The evidence could possibly lead to new leads, witnesses, and perhaps even indictments.
Ron DeSantis Blows Past Trump In New Presidential Poll
If the Republican Primary took place today, Ron DeSantis would defeat Donald Trump in New Hampshire. According to The Independent:
The survey from the University of New Hampshire indicated that Mr DeSantis would win the support of 39 per cent of GOP primary voters, compared to just 37 per cent who said they would support Mr Trump. Those were the only two names to even breach double digits in the poll.
In October, 2021, there was a 21-point-gap between the two candidates, which DeSantis has closed in under one year. Although Donald Trump is clearly a tyrant, Ron DeSantis is arguably far more dangerous. He has all of the same horrific policies as Trump with none of the baggage, allowing him to ingratiate himself with moderates. If DeSantis wins the Republican primary in 2024, Joe Biden could be in serious trouble.
