LEAK: Trump Will Declare Victory on Election Night
Axios reports that Donald Trump has told close advisers that if the election results are remotely close tomorrow night, then Trump will declare victory. In order to do so, Trump will need to be leading the early count in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina and be competitive in Pennsylvania (where results are expected to take much longer). Trump will then try to get courts to stop legitimate mail-in votes from being counted, suppressing the vote count, and locking in his second term. The President will argue that late-arriving votes in Pennsylvania are fake and fraudulent, a claim his supporters will dutifully get behind.
The way to completely avoid this scenario tomorrow is with an undeniable Joe Biden landslide victory. If Biden is able to win Florida, Georgia, or North Carolina on election night, it gets much more difficult for Trump to argue he won. Trump has also been saying for months it’s a shame that the election results might not be known on election night. The truth is that media organizations are the ones calling elections for candidates on election night and states take a few days or even weeks to certify elections. It’s not unusual for official vote tallies to go on for days after Election Day, even when there isn’t a global pandemic. As far as Trump is concerned, anything counted Wednesday and later will be fake news.
Final Trump Rallies Set Record for Humiliation
Donald Trump is doing everything he physically can to win reelection, holding five corona-rallies per day. Yesterday, the President was in Michigan, Iowa, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Today, he goes to North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and then back to Michigan. The Trump rallies have so far caused a minimum of 700 deaths according to a Stanford study and that number is likely to grow significantly as time goes on. Trump doesn’t care so long as his at-risk supporters live long enough to vote for him.
Trump ran through his greatest hits of stupidity, saying at one rally that Biden won’t allow electricity, indoor heating, and air conditioning. He praised his supporters who harassed the Biden bus in Texas over the weekend. Trump floated the idea of firing Anthony Fauci after the election. He also revisited the talking point that Barack Obama and Joe Biden need to be locked up for the supposed crimes they committed. Finally, in an authoritarian nightmare, Trump refused to say he will undergo a peaceful transition if he loses, saying “let’s see what happens.” With all of the lies, corruption, and disrespect of American institutions, Trump deserves to lose in a historic landslide tomorrow.
From over the weekend:
Will Hunter Biden Story Change the Election?
A live caller asks if the Hunter Biden laptop story is going to change the course of the election. It likely will not. The story is unbelievable to begin with, so much so that Fox News wouldn’t even run it. The Hunter story is interesting material for the Trump base to rally behind, but there’s no chance it persuades independents. This election cycle, there are real issues in America — like the coronavirus pandemic and economic recession. It’s a tough sell to try to make the narrative in the final days about someone who isn’t even running for president.
