Trump COLLAPSES, Says He'll Seek THIRD TERM
Trump spoke in front of a small group of supporters in Wisconsin yesterday. He had very odd energy throughout and delivered the speech in a way that made it clear he hadn’t read it before. Trump suggested he may want to seek a third term in 2024, because Democrats impeached him and Obama “spied on his campaign.” This is the latest example of Trump wanting to do something completely unconstitutional for his own authoritarian and selfish ends. Trump also talked about how he has a chance at winning New York and California in November, which is absolutely absurd. Trump is likely to lose those states by at least twenty percentage points.
The event got so bad that even Fox News had to cut away. Trump, in fact, bashed Fox during the appearance because he doesn’t like how their polling apparatus always shows him losing. Trump finished off with his usual hyperbole, talking about how Joe Biden will turn Chicago into Syria and how the United States is set up to have an amazing year in 2021 economically if “stupid people” don’t get elected. Trump may be right about that last one, although not in the way he intended.
DNC Day 1 Was Bad, But Does It Matter?
The 2020 Democratic National Convention began yesterday to mixed reviews. The first half hour was slow, failed to capture attention, and included a prayer to Jesus which probably didn’t need to be there. Part of the issue was the format, which looked much more like a telethon than a convention. It featured a lot of pre-produced video packages that looked a bit cliché and maybe lacked the energy necessary to inspire people to vote. Luckily, the remaining three-quarters of the night got better and some of the speeches were compelling.
Former Ohio Governor John Kasich spoke about how he’s a proud life-long Republican but in this election, he is putting country over party by supporting Joe Biden. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders reassured his supporters that the correct move is to vote for Biden, discussing Biden’s plan to raise the minimum wage and take on climate change. Former First Lady Michelle Obama wrapped up the night, talking about how Trump is not fit to be president. She argued that the job is too hard for him and that the country needs to redeem itself for the mistake it made in 2016. We’ll see how the remaining three nights of the DNC stack up.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump Flunkie's Brain Turns to Mayo on LIVE TV
Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows went on CNN’s State of the Union with Jake Tapper and made an absolute fool out of himself. Meadows tried to blame Obama for the Trump administration’s attempts to sabotage the Postal Service. Meadows clearly did not get the talking points straight before going on the Sunday show, contradicting himself and generally not making sense. He white-flags at the end of the exchange, saying he and Tapper could discuss the post office for hours but that would only bore the viewers.
