Trump Wanted White House Leaker "Executed"
There’s a fascinating new report from Wall Street Journal journalist Michael Bender that provides further proof of Donald Trump’s unhinged behavior in the final months of his presidency. According to Bender’s reporting, Trump told a number of advisers in May of 2020 that whoever leaked the story of him and the first family hiding in the White House bunker during the peak of the Black Lives Matter protests ought to be executed for treason. The story is documented in Bender’s forthcoming book Frankly, We Did Win This Election: The Inside Story of How Trump Lost. He writes, “Trump boiled over about the bunker story as soon as they arrived and shouted at them to smoke out whoever had leaked it. It was the most upset some aides had ever seen the president.” The White House Chief of Staff at the time, Mark Meadows, did his best to calm the president down and vowed to find out who did it, although it doesn’t appear that he ever did.
This is yet another case of Donald Trump being a complete and total hypocrite. Calling for the execution of whoever leaked the information goes against law and order, due process, the Constitution, and everything else conservatives claim to be about. The former president’s spokesperson Liz Harrington has denied the report, saying Trump “never said this or suggested it to anyone.” Trump was so triggered about people finding out that he was hiding in a bunker during the protests that he made up a story about how he was merely doing an “inspection” of the bunker, as if that’s something a president does. Once again, we have an example of Trump making a big deal out of a story that really isn’t all that bad in the first place, but making it worse for himself by lying and going over the top with threats of violence and whacked out comments.
Miami Mayor Suggests Maybe Bombing Cuba
We continue to cover the growing unrest in Cuba over the country’s poor economic situation, growing inflation, and inability to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to increasing internet access in Cuba, the Cuban people are now starting to have a better understanding of the outside world and are coordinating and hitting the streets in protest. Francis Suarez, the mayor of Miami, Florida and a Cuban-American whose father was once mayor, chose to weigh in on this and did not offer the most enlightened take. Suarez said on Fox News yesterday that maybe the US military should consider bombing Cuba as a way to fight the Castro government and liberate the nation’s people. In the interview with Martha MacCallum, the mayor cited George H.W. Bush's bombing of Panama and Bill Clinton's bombing of Yugoslavia. Suarez when pushed said, “what I’m suggesting is that that option is one that has to be explored and cannot be simply discarded as an option that is not on the table.” This right-wing instinct to launch airstrikes as a solution to every geopolitical issue is a dangerous and counterproductive one. The Cuban people are not going to be helped by the American government bombing them and the suggestion from Suarez was absolutely absurd.

Trump Lawyer Quits Republican Party on Live TV
Jenna Ellis is a former member of Donald Trump’s legal team who made a name for herself by going around the country with Rudy Giuliani to try and overturn the results of the 2020 election. Now, she apparently has her own show on the network “Real America’s Voice” called “Just the Truth.” In a recent pronouncement, Ellis declared that she has decided to quit the Republican Party. As far as she is concerned, the party isn’t fighting hard enough to argue that Trump won the 2020 election. Ellis called for RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel to resign from the party and said that she will leave the GOP until there is new leadership. She said on her program, “as of today, I am resigning from the party. I am changing my voter registration and I am no longer a Republican until the party decides that it wants to be conservative again.” The crazy thing is that the GOP has gone all in on the voter fraud narrative and claiming that Trump was the victim of irregularities that changed the results. It was the core theme of last weekend’s CPAC in Dallas, Texas. But apparently, Ellis and those who agree with her want to make the Republican Party even more radical and even more opposed to democracy and the American experiment. Until that happens, she says, Ellis will be trying to impact the Republican Party from the outside.
