Kyrsten Sinema Flees to Bathroom, Followed in by Activists
Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema has been holding up negotiations on the $3.5 trillion spending package proposed by the rest of her party. This led to the Arizona senator facing backlash from youth organizers yesterday on the campus of Arizona State University, where she has taught for nearly two decades. Students who are part of the group Living United for Change in Arizona (LUCHA) peppered Sinema with questions about why she won’t support President Biden’s “Build Back Better” agenda in its current form. They made statements like, “we need to hold you accountable to what you told us, what you promised us that you were going to pass when we knocked on doors for you.” These progressive advocates followed Sinema into the bathroom and continued asking questions even when it was clear she was trying to get away from them. Sinema’s office later released a statement reading in part, “yesterday’s behavior was not legitimate protest. . . . in the 19 years I have been teaching at ASU, I have been committed to creating a safe and intellectually challenging environment for my students. Yesterday, that environment was breached.” While it shouldn’t be up to elected officials to determine what is and isn’t legitimate protest, it’s clear that some of these tactics went too far and they’re almost certainly not going to work to win her vote.
Trump Fraud Lawyer BANNED from All Trump Properties
Former Trump voter fraud lawyer Sidney Powell has now been banned from all of the ex-president’s properties. This is the latest step in Donald Trump’s attempt to distance himself from the folks who made outrageous claims about the 2020 election on his behalf, likely to avoid legal liability. Powell, along with Rudy Giuliani and Mike Lindell, are the targets of defamation lawsuits from Dominion Voting Systems to the tune of billions of dollars and Trump likely doesn’t want to get himself any more involved with these people and put himself at more risk. The Daily Beast reported about Powell’s banishment, saying, “since he left office in January, certain advisers and longtime associates to Trump have kept an informal shortlist of people who they should look out for, including at Trump’s private clubs or offices in Florida, New Jersey, and New York. The point of this roster is to intercept and possibly rebuff attempted outreach, visits, or phone calls from a handful of conservative figures who could bring the ex-president more undesired headaches.” This is probably not the last we’ll hear about Sidney Powell as her misfortunes are likely to continue.
From over the weekend:
Arizona Trump Audit Supporters Turn on EACH OTHER After Total Flop
The “audit” of the 2020 presidential election in Arizona turned out to be a total dud that only served to add to Joe Biden’s margin of victory over Donald Trump. Now the right-wing supporters of the “audit” have turned on each other, blaming one another for why it failed. One said the voting review fell victim to “deep state” malfeasance. Other members of the audit team claimed it was infiltrated by Antifa or was merely a “dog and pony show.” The fallout is not surprising because despite the best efforts by Republicans, they were unable to come up with any reason to show why Joe Biden wasn’t the legitimate winner of Arizona’s eleven electoral votes. Many of these “audit” supporters have so deeply bought into this conspiracy theory to the point where even evidence against it being true is being warped as evidence that it is true. Certainly there will be calls for a do-over audit and Trump and his allies have already turned to Texas as the next state to investigate. These charades are more than likely going to keep going until the 2022 midterms or even the 2024 presidential race.

Matt Gaetz Hires Lawyers Who Specialize in Sex Crimes
Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz has hired a bevy of sex crime lawyers to defend him against possible child sex trafficking and prostitution charges. Gaetz hiring these attorneys is by no means an admission of guilt but it could be interpreted as sign of what’s to come next. Gaetz’s wingman Joel Greenberg, a former Florida tax collector, has already pleaded guilty to six charges, which was brought down from thirty-three in exchange for his cooperation. There’s also allegedly a paper trail with some of the young women and girls in question including videos, pictures, and “years of Venmo transactions.” Gaetz’s legal team includes Marc Mukasey, Isabelle Kirshner, and Marc Fernich. The layers of this story have been building steadily ever since it was first reported on in the spring and there’s no sign of things slowing down from here. Many of those who want to see Gaetz put behind bars over these allegations are growing impatient and wondering if the justice system is protecting Gaetz in some fashion because he’s a sitting congressman. This is probably just a case of the system taking a while to run its course but it does seem as though the pressure is building and the Florida congressman must be fearing the worst.
