Trump PANICS, Loses Attempt to Block Jan 6 Investigators
Donald Trump’s behavior continues to suggest that he has much to hide over what he was up to while the January 6th Capitol riots were unfolding. We’re now learning that Trump has filed another emergency motion to block documents from the National Archives from being brought to congressional investigators. This is strange, since the judge looking into the matter hasn’t yet ruled on the Trump team’s previous objections. The archives have the intention of turning over the documents to Congress by Friday unless the court intervenes. Trump’s lawyer, Jesse Binnall, issued the second request to Judge Tanya Chutkan so that his team would have a chance to appeal the decision if it doesn’t go in the ex-president’s favor. Binnall said about this, “this case should be decided after thorough but expeditious consideration pursuant to America’s judicial review process, both before this Court and on appeal, not by a race against the clock.” It’s important to point out that just because these records may be turned over to Congress in the coming days, that doesn’t mean they will be made available for public release. This means that Trump still has several ways to avoid facing any public scrutiny over his alleged wrongdoing surrounding the January 6th insurrection.
Fox Executive Leaks Vaccine Documents to Me
A Fox News executive who happens to be a fan of The David Pakman Show reached out to us yesterday to talk about what it’s like to work at News Corp in the COVID era. On the one hand, Fox has a strict mandate for its employees, but on the other, its primetime hosts are mostly vaccine skeptics who criticize mandates put in place by other entities. This person wrote, “I am in management in Fox and I am disgusted with the lies and misinformation. Honestly, Hannity and especially Tucker, deserve a kick in the nuts. They make me sick. The lies that they are allowed to spread are sick.” The executive went on to explain that their politics are left-wing but that they cannot afford to lose their job and the health insurance that comes along with it. This person said they are okay with us sharing their experience with the company so long as we keep their personal information private. This message confirms so much about what we already knew about Fox, which is that the workers there largely support the vaccine requirements as it keeps them and their families safe. But due to the need to appeal to extreme factions of Fox’s audience, the hosts regularly keep spreading disinformation to the COVID deniers and vaccine skeptics who make up a large portion of their audience.
From yesterday’s show:
UH-OH: Biden Vaccine "Mandate" FROZEN by Republican-Appointed Judges
Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate pertaining to businesses with more than one hundred employees is now frozen thanks to the decision of a panel of Republican-appointed judges. The federal appeals court in New Orleans wrote that there was cause to believe there are grave statutory and constitutional issues with the mandate and they have chosen to stay Biden’s order until these aspects can be assessed further. Specifically, the Biden administration instructed Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to institute fines on companies with more than one hundred employees that did not have all of their workers vaccinated or submit to weekly testing requirements. This is not the end for Biden’s mandate which can be appealed to higher courts. White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain said about the appeals court’s decision, “these vaccine requirements have been litigated up and down the courts all over the country. State requirements, for example, one in Maine, and every single court before this one ruled that they were valid. The Supreme Court has turned back several times already various efforts to enjoin other vaccine requirements.” Klain went on to confirm that the White House is confident that ultimately the courts will uphold President Biden’s mandate before the January 4th deadline comes around.
From yesterday’s show:
House Passes $1.2 Trillion Infrastructure Bill
On Friday, the House of Representatives passed a $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure package with a vote of 228 to 206. Thirteen Republicans joined, but six Democrats opposed the bill to try getting the $1.75 trillion spending bill voted on in tandem. Next, the legislation will go to the Senate. If changes are made it will go back to the House, and then ultimately, President Biden will sign it into law. While the bill could have been bolstered in many areas, it’s still a wide-ranging piece of legislation. The spending plan includes $110 billion to build and repair roads and bridges. There’s $66 billion appropriated for passenger and freight rail and $39 billion set aside for public transit. In addition, the bill will fund broadband internet to the tune of $65 billion, $73 billion for power infrastructure, and $73 billion for clean drinking water. Most of the Republican holdouts are criticizing the bill for being too expensive, but the truth is that this will be economically simulative and is certainly an investment which the US is in desperate need of. Many of these Republicans who voted against the legislation expressed an interest in passing an infrastructure deal with Donald Trump, but they simply chose not to deliver a win for Joe Biden.
