Tucker Carlson Claims COVID Vaccine Might Have Killed "Thousands"
Tucker Carlson won’t stop pushing vaccine skeptical propaganda on his nighttime Fox News program. Despite the fact that Tucker is almost certainly immunized in keeping with Fox’s employee vaccine mandates, he doesn’t mind pushing dangerous anti-vax talking points to his viewers that could get them killed. On his program Monday, Carlson took issue specifically with the Pentagon’s vaccine mandate and called it a plan to remove “sincere Christians in the ranks, the free thinkers, the men with high testosterone levels, and anyone else who does not love Joe Biden.” He then went on to claim that thousands of people have died from taking the coronavirus vaccine and cited VAERS as his source. VAERS, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, does not require any validation of the information provided and has essentially become a message board for anti-vaxxers to make unchecked claims about adverse reactions. Just because VAERS is a government site, the testimonies on there aren’t proof of anything since anyone can say whatever they want on there. Even if it were true that thousands have died from the vaccines, which it’s not, that would be a minuscule amount out of the 182 million people who have been fully vaccinated in this country and the nearly 700,000 people who have died from COVID. Fox needs to put an end to Tucker’s conspiratorial nonsense, but given he hosts their top-rated show, the right-wing network is unlikely to step in his way.
Trump Lawyer's Absurd Plan to Overturn Election Leaked
Yet another strategy for Donald Trump and his campaign team to overturn the results of the 2020 election has surfaced based on reporting from Bob Woodward and Robert Costa’s upcoming book, Peril. A lawyer representing Donald Trump’s 2020 election campaign named John Eastman allegedly sent a two-page memo to Mike Pence ahead of January 6th outlining steps the then-Vice President could take to interfere with the electoral vote counting process. The letter suggested that Pence could say there were competing electors in the seven states Trump’s team took issue with, allowing him to throw out the votes from Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, and New Mexico. In that scenario, the final vote tally would be 232 votes for Trump compared to Biden’s 222 and Pence could rule Trump and himself elected for a second term. The scenario was first provided to Pence on January 4th, based on this reporting, and the former VP was skeptical of the plan. According to CNN, Trump told Pence over the phone, “you really need to listen to John. He's a respected constitutional scholar. Hear him out.” On the morning of the 6th, Pence told Trump he would not be following through with the plan, prompting Trump to say, “you don't understand, Mike. You can do this. I don't want to be your friend anymore if you don't do this.” Later on at his DC rally, Trump told his supporters, if Pence “does the right thing, we win.” Luckily Pence did what was actually the right thing on that day, because if he chose not to there would have been a serious constitutional crisis unfolding for the country and maybe four more years of Trump.
From yesterday’s show:
Fox News Refusing to Air MyPillow Ads
The rift continues within right-wing media over how to approach conspiracy theories regarding the 2020 election. Mike Lindell is now pleading with Fox News to allow his MyPillow commercials on their network. Lindell took his advertisements off of Fox in July when the company ignored the leadup to his cyber symposium event, which Lindell claimed would provide indisputable proof that the 2020 election was hacked by China. Lindell said during an interview on his own TV network, Lindell TV, that Fox was the only network giving him trouble over the ad, whereas CNN, MSNBC, ABC, and CBS were fine with airing it. The MyPillow guy went on to explain that he kept sending Fox tamer and tamer ads that did not mention anything about the election being stolen and they simply promoted Frank Speech, his up-and-coming social media site. Lindell wrapped this all up as “cancel culture” which is now a catch-all term for when right-wingers don’t support the decisions of private businesses. In reality, Fox is probably just worried about more lawsuits coming their way and don’t want to associate with someone who was so vociferously pushing lies about the last presidential race.
From yesterday’s show:
Madison Cawthorn Brings Huge Knife to School Board Meeting, Won't Be Charged
Republican Congressman Madison Cawthorn continues to act like he’s above the law, this time by allegedly bringing a knife onto school grounds and getting away with it. Cawthorn went to a school board meeting in Henderson County, North Carolina to speak against the need for mask requirements for students. While he was there, one of the people in attendance took a picture of what looked to be a knife stored underneath Cawthorn’s wheelchair. Bringing a knife onto public school grounds is a class one misdemeanor is North Carolina, so anyone else caught having one would presumably be charged with a crime. However, the Henderson County sheriff’s office has announced Cawthorn will not be charged. They said, “although unacceptable, occasionally a person inadvertently possesses a knife on educational property or other property where such possession is prohibited. During such an encounter, such as a sporting event, it is not uncommon for a HCSO Deputy Sheriff to issue a verbal warning and have the knife and or person removed from the premises.” Not long ago, Cawthorn brought a gun to an airport and attempted to fly with it, but faced no legal repercussions for that incident as well. Presumably, the Republican congressman will continue possessing weapons where he shouldn’t and unless something changes face no consequences for doing so.
