LOL: Boris Johnson Calls Trump "Previous" President
Even as Trump and Trumpists across the country refuse to contend with the fact that he has lost the 2020 election, world leaders seem to know better. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that he “had and [has] a good relationship with the previous president,” referring to outgoing President Donald Trump. Johnson also expressed that he is looking forward to forging a close relationship with the incoming Biden/Harris administration. It appears as though Johnson did not intend to call Trump the former president, as he is still the president until January 20, 2021. However, the eagerness to dismiss Trump as irrelevant was reassuring.
Much of the world is already thinking of Trump as the previous president. Trump is doing nothing presidential these days. He keeps his calendar open and spends his days eating fast food, tweeting, and watching Newsmax and nighttime Fox News. Trump's plan is simple: blame others, deny failure, never apologize, never admit defeat, divide people, frighten, and anger everyone. It may work on the vast majority of his supporters, but the rest of the world is too smart to fall for it.
Trump Press Secy Humiliates Herself One Last Time
Kayleigh McEnany spoke on Fox & Friends this week, not as White House Press Secretary, but simply as an adviser to the Trump campaign. On Monday, she spoke at a press conference in her personal capacity, so it appears as though she is wearing many different hats. In fact, during the Fox interview, McEnany directed a question to the White House, even though she is the White House. It is all very strange. She held up a stack of papers to the camera which is her go-to way of showing that work is being done. McEnany also did not rule out the possibility of having state legislatures give their electoral votes to Donald Trump even when he lost the popular vote in the state.
Certainly, Joe Biden’s legal team needs to take these threats to democracy seriously and they are. The path for Trump at this point is nearly impossible because he would need to flip three states and he has no basis for doing so. The Trump team’s frivolous court cases keep getting thrown out. This is all theater for Donald Trump. He cannot accept defeat so he is dragging the country down with him to protect his own ego. A new Economist/YouGov poll shows that 86% of Trump supporters think that Joe Biden did not legitimately win the election. Those who thought the country would get less crazy after November 3rd were sorely mistaken.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump Secy of State Humiliated, Promises 2nd Term
Outgoing President Trump’s denial of his reelection loss is affecting other members of his administration. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters this week that he can “promise a smooth transition to a second Trump administration.” Lame-duck Trump praised Pompeo’s remarks on Twitter, happy the Secretary of State is putting Trump before the country. Pompeo laughed through the comment, leaving some to believe it was just a joke. However, this is for now the Secretary of State of the United States and foreign leaders will take his comments seriously. No one thought the Trump presidency could become more of a joke, but in defeat, it has become even more of an embarrassment to this country.
