Trump's Convention Becomes Dangerous on Day 3
Night three of the 2020 Republican National Convention was last night and the event looked straight-up dangerous. Vice President Mike Pence gave the final speech in front of a crowd where no one in sight was social distancing or wearing a mask. It’s clear the Trump campaign’s strategy at this point is to ignore the virus and hope that people forget about it. Pence defended Trump’s position that coronavirus will disappear one day like a miracle, because we are a “nation of miracles.” This really is the pinnacle of weaponized stupidity.
The convention was also riddled with lies and hyperbole, as expected. Joni Ernst said liberals want to ban animal agriculture and gas-powered cars. Marsha Blackburn suggested coronavirus was a plot by Democrats to keep businesses closed and people dependent on government. Lara Trump called the Trump family hard workers and down to earth. Lou Holtz questioned Joe Biden’s religiosity while saying with a straight face that Trump is religious and empathetic. We’ll see how the convention concludes with Donald Trump’s speech this evening.
STOP IT: Trump Can EASILY WIN Re-Election
I’ve been hearing from some members of the audience that I’m reverse-gaslighting by playing down the idea that Joe Biden has this election already won. That is not true and the numbers back my cause for concern. Biden’s lead on Trump nationally has ticked down a bit, to 7% according to the Real Clear Politics average. If the trendline continues and Biden is only ahead of Trump by 3% or 4% on Election Day, Trump could very well still win electorally. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by 2% and still lost the electoral college. The same thing could happen to Joe Biden this year.
Nate Silver of FiveThirtyEight updated his forecasting model to show that Joe Biden has a 70% chance of winning the election, with Trump at 30%. There is no telling what events will take place between now and November that could shape the race. Much of this race will be shaped by coronavirus and the economy, which are unpredictable indicators. I am not comfortable with it being this close. We have to do everything we can to stop Donald Trump from getting another four years in power and that’s why I’m urging everyone to stay focused and make a plan to vote.
From yesterday’s show:
Hillary: Biden Shouldn't Concede to Trump Under Any Circumstances
Hillary Clinton gave an interview this week to discuss the 2020 election and her support for Joe Biden. Clinton gave the advice to the Biden team to not concede under any circumstances in the immediate aftermath of the election. The results may take a while to trickle in and the election could be close, meaning Biden should not even give the appearance that he’s in the losing position. Clinton did not mean that Biden should not concede if it’s clear he’s lost, but rather he should take a measured and patient approach so that we don’t have a repeat of the 2000 election.

I have been a ongoing donor for quite some time, however, I like reading your overviews in your newsletter. They are especially important on days when I don’t have time to watch your show. Any bump in the polls that President Trump may get from the RNC are destined to be temporary. But Biden is such a weak candidate that I break into sweats sometimes over the real possibility that we will have a repeat of 2016. I predict if that happens America will be thrown into a state of anarchy - something that Russia and China and other countries would relish and exacerbate.
