Trump RAGES at Fox News for Mentioning DeSantis Leads a Poll
Donald Trump got outraged at Fox & Friends for talking about polls that show Ron DeSantis leading the Republican field in the 2024 presidential race. Steve Doocy spoke about a poll from Blueprint polling showing that DeSantis beats Trump among all age groups and a University of New Hampshire poll that has the Florida governor beating the former president 39% to 37%. The ex-POTUS was predictably unhappy with Fox’s reporting, writing on Truth Social, “@foxandfriends just really botched my poll numbers, no doubt on purpose. That show has been terrible - gone to the ‘dark side.’ They quickly quote the big Turning Point Poll victory of almost 60 points over the number two Republican, and then hammer me with outliers.” Fox sharing this information is yet another signal that they’d like to move away from Trump in 2024 if the GOP voter base will allow them to.
Pence's Chief of Staff Calls Matt Gaetz a Child Molester on Live TV
Mike Pence’s former Chief of Staff Marc Short essentially referred to embroiled Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz as a child molester during a recent CNN interview. Anchor Erin Burnett played a clip of Gaetz speaking at the Turning Point USA conference and saying, “let me just say what everybody here knows. Mike Pence will never be president. Nice guy, not a leader.” Short was asked to follow up and he said, “well, I don’t know if Mike Pence will run for president in 2024 but I don’t think Matt Gaetz will have an impact on that. In fact, I’d be surprised if he’s still voting. It’s more likely he’ll be in prison for child sex trafficking by 2024 and I’m actually surprised that Florida law enforcement still allows him to speak to teenage conferences like that.” This was a slick burn by Short and hopefully his prediction about Gaetz ending up behind bars turns out to be true.

Matt Gaetz Says Only Ugly Women Want Abortions
Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz spoke at the right-wing Turning Point USA conference in Florida over the weekend and made the case that pro-choice advocates are ugly. Gaetz riled up the crowd by saying, “have you watched these pro-abortion, pro-murder rallies? These people are just disgusting. Like, why is it that the women with the least likelihood of getting pregnant are the ones most worried about having abortions? Nobody wants to impregnate you if you look like a thumb.” The congressman’s disgusting rant went on to be even more misogynistic and fatphobic. It’s hard to imagine women wanting to vote for Matt Gaetz after this tirade but many will, and unless he ends up in jail for child sex trafficking charges, there’s a good chance he’ll be reelected to serve the Florida panhandle in the fall.

"We Failed:" Gay Republicans Crushed by GOP Homophobia
Gay Republicans are starting to realize that they don’t really have a home in the Republican Party. Once the Supreme Court effectively legalized same-sex marriage in 2015, the issue seemed settled and it looked like the right wing no longer had an interest in fighting that battle. This made some LGBT folks who are more fiscally conservative comfortable with voting for Republicans, in many cases for the first time. Ever since the overturning of Roe vs. Wade and the Supreme Court making it clear they’re willing to roll back other constitutional rights, the right has started to think about undoing Obergefell vs. Hodges as the next possible win for them. Now, the Log Cabin Republicans, a gay conservatives group, is starting to accept the fact that they failed to win over their fellow conservatives on the gay rights issue and that maybe the Republican Party isn’t really the home for them.
