Trump & Fox Host Humiliate EACH OTHER in Embarrassing Interview
Donald Trump went on conservative “comedian” Greg Gutfeld’s Fox News show this week and the interview managed to be humiliating for everyone involved. Throughout the interview there was an annoying laugh track playing in the background which was simply awkward because neither one of these guys were telling jokes. Gutfeld said that he used to be critical of Trump but has over time come around to him. The Fox host said, “now we’re at a time where — okay there are no mean tweets and we have a really nice president — and the country is in the crapper. So who would you rather have?” In truth, Gutfeld like so many other right-wing personalities have been forced to come around to Trump to keep their careers, as there is no room for dissent in the American right anymore surrounding who the dear leader is. Gutfeld later asked Trump how hard it is to be president. Trump responded by saying it was easy to “run the country, work on the world and do things.” But he said it was much harder to deal with constant pressure by the media and that “the survival was much tougher.” After the interview aired, one of Gutfeld’s panelists commended the host because he “didn’t kiss [Trump’s] ass.” If the constant fawning and constant laugh track usage to make the ex-president look funny wasn’t “ass kissing,” it’s hard to tell what is.
No, Japan DID NOT Approve Ivermectin for COVID
In the latest example of the pandemic being politicized, right-wing media figures have been pushing the dewormer treatment Ivermectin as a way to combat coronavirus symptoms. The drug got yet another boost in attention when podcaster Joe Rogan said that he used it to treat his COVID symptoms along with a slew of other medications. On his program this week, Joe Rogan sat down with comedian Tom Segura and the two talked about the blowback Joe has received for saying he took the drug which remains experimental for COVID-19. One of the points Rogan made was that “the Tokyo Medical Association chairman held a live press conference recommending Ivermectin for all doctors for all COVID patients. While this did happen, the important context absent from Rogan’s statement is that this press conference took place back in February. Seven months later, Japan still has not approved Ivermectin to treat COVID-19. In fact, in July, Japan put Ivermectin in a category of drugs whose efficacy and safety had not been established. Furthermore, the American FDA has not recommended Ivermectin to treat coronavirus patients. If Joe wishes to forgo that advice in favor of what is going on in Japan, it’s crucial to point out that the most recent take from the Japanese government is that the drug simply doesn’t work for treating COVID-19.
From yesterday’s show:
Black Republican Wants Reparations...for Slave OWNERS
Right-wing talk show host Larry Elder has a serious shot of becoming the next governor of California and that should scare just about everyone. Recently, Elder appeared on Candace Owens’s show and spoke about the growing call for reparations for slavery and the Jim Crow era. Elder said he is against such reparations but suggested he supported the repaying of slaveowners whose “property” was taken from them after the Civil War. Elder told Owens, “do you know that the slave owners were compensated? After they lost their quote-on-quote ‘property,’ the government compensated slave owners.” If anything, Larry managed to make the opposite point he was trying to make, because while salve owners were “compensated,” enslaved people were not. This is just the latest in a series of unfortunate statements from Elder who continues to lead the pack of people who would replace Gavin Newsom if voters choose to recall. Luckily, polling has gone quite favorably in Newsom’s direction in recent weeks, with 54.3% of Californians wanting to keep him and only 42% wanting to remove him according to FiveThirtyEight.

UH-OH: Biden Approval Keeps Declining
Joe Biden’s approval rating continues to decline and he’s now underwater for the first time in his presidency. Polling results now account for the tumultuous US exit from Afghanistan and given the negative right-wing takes and media coverage of the withdrawal, it’s no surprise that Biden’s popularity has ticked down a few more points in recent days. According to FiveThirtyEight, Biden’s approval rating is now at 44.9% whereas his disapproval rating is up to 48.7%. Biden previously saw approval figures in the mid-fifties and by some other polling outlets even closer to 60% in his first few months. Aside from the Afghanistan situation, another major drag on Biden’s popularity is the resurgence of COVID-19 with the Delta variant becoming more and more of a problem. Even though much of the blame for this goes to Republican governors and red areas of the country not getting vaccinated, Biden has said in the past that the buck stops with him on COVID and has taken credit when infection numbers were down. The question now is whether Biden’s approval rating will remain subpar over the next year going into the 2022 midterms or if he’ll see a resurgence if/when COVID subsides and the Afghanistan crisis becomes old news. Certainly new problems can arise between now and then, but new successes could come about as well and that all remains to be seen.
