Police Shoot Woman at Point Blank Range with Rubber Bullet
There’s a horrifying viral video of a police officer in Los Angeles, California shooting a protester with a rubber bullet at close range. The LAPD was responding to a clash between two groups protesting over trans issues outside of Koreatown Spa. Officers arrived to the scene in riot gear, prompting some protesters to throw bottles and projectiles, according to authorities. The police responded by announcing that everyone had to immediately disperse. When that didn’t happen, the officers got more aggressive and this led to one woman getting shot with a non-lethal round at almost point-blank range. The video of the incident shows the woman who got shot holding a phone and not being a threat to anyone. It’s hard to imagine there being a reasonable justification for the officer doing this.
Rubber bullets are not supposed to be used in this manner. Even though they are generally not lethal, rubber bullets can still be very dangerous at close range. Most police department policies have very specific rules about how these weapons can be deployed. There are often minimum distance requirements and rubber bullets are often reserved for dangerous, non-compliant individuals. Some right wingers have mentioned that this victim was at fault because she didn’t comply with the orders to disperse. Many of these same people defended the Trump rioters and criticized the officer who shot Ashli Babbitt, even though Babbitt was trespassing in the Capitol and tried to break into the House chamber. Information on this latest incident will continue to come out and we’ll be sure to follow it.
Caitlyn Jenner Disconnected from Reality in Bizarre Interview
Caitlyn Jenner is running to be the next Governor of California by replacing Gavin Newsom in the recall election coming up in September. It’s hard to say whether or not Jenner is a serious contender for the position or if this is all just a publicity stunt. Nevertheless, Jenner’s candidacy is an interesting one as she’s a celebrity but also a trans woman running for political office in the Republican Party. Jenner sat down with Fox News host Jeanine Pirro to do an interview on her candidacy and the appearance was all over the place. Every one of these interviews makes Jenner appear detached from reality and disinterested in the most important issues of the day. In the discussion with Pirro, Jenner attacked George Soros for being the source of the problems in American politics and funding left-wing candidates. Later on, the two discussed culture war issues like the role of the American flag and the national anthem in the Olympics. Jenner said “this woke world that we’re living in right now is — honestly, I don’t know how we move forward as a country.” Jenner’s candidacy appears to be going nowhere but Donald Trump’s victory in 2016 shows us that anything is possible and that there is no candidate too fringe for Republican voters to support.
From over the weekend:
Drunk Giuliani Urged Trump to "Just Say We Won"
There is new reporting out now providing insight into the Trump campaign headquarters on election night and the origins of the “big lie.” According to Philip Rucker and Carol Leonnig of the Washington Post, Rudy Giuliani was drunk on election night and urged Trump to lie about the results and “just say we won.” Trump went on to give a speech that night which was in line with Rudy’s advice, famously saying “frankly, we did win this election.” Giuliani would go on to parade around the country insisting there was widespread voter fraud in the election. His claims were so baseless and lie-riddled that they led to him getting his law license suspended in New York and Washington DC. It did, however, provide us with such hilarious moments as the time Rudy’s black hair dye dripped down his cheeks and the time he could not stop farting while testifying before a legislative committee. Trump very well may have pushed his election conspiracy theories without Rudy, but early on, Giuliani was one of the few voices in the room urging the then-president to take this approach.
