Biden Orders Close Review of COVID-19 Origins
President Joe Biden has ordered a closer intelligence review of the origins of the coronavirus pandemic. Biden also revealed that earlier this year, per CNBC, he asked the intelligence community to assess whether COVID-19 emerged from human contact with an infected animal or whether it emerged from a laboratory accident. Increasingly, there are more and more people saying we need to study whether this was manmade. It's really important to understand that these are all different theories and that it’s not a currently held belief by infectious disease experts that COVID was manmade. But there is increasing evidence that makes the “lab leak” theory — that it was accidently released — sound more likely than previously thought. We want the truth and have always wanted to know the truth about this virus. If newly revealed evidence suggests something other than the original hypothesis, it makes perfect sense to want to research it further and to be open to alternative possibilities.
There are three plausible theories as to the origins of the virus: Option one, which is still the predominant theory, is that there was contact spread from an animal to humans and humans were able to spread it among themselves from there. Scenario number two is that this came from an animal and was being studied in a lab, possibly in Wuhan, and due to an accident, it leaked and spread eventually to reach the worldwide human population. And then there is scenario three, the most conspiratorial option and the one for which we have no evidence, which is that this was released as a human-made bioweapon by China. That last one doesn’t really pass the sniff test for a number of reasons but now this possibility and all others are going to be investigated by the Biden administration and we’ll see what comes of it.

CNN Confronts Woman Behind Bogus Arizona Audit
CNN reporter Kyung Lah confronted the person behind the audit of the 2020 election currently underway in Maricopa County, Arizona. The official’s name is Karen Fann, and she is the Arizona State Senate President and a member of the Republican Party. Although the election was six months ago and Joe Biden isn’t going anywhere, right-wing lawmakers around the country keep looking to see if they can find any evidence that will support their widespread voter fraud theory. CNN’s Lah asked Fann why the audit is being done if there isn’t even circumstantial evidence to suggest there was fraud in the election. Fann tried to flip the burden of proof in a nonsensical way, asking Lah how she could be so sure that there wasn’t fraud in the election. Her position was that as long as everyone is not 100% sure that there wasn’t fraud in the election, it makes sense to continue investigating. While healthy skepticism is good, unquenchable never-ending skepticism is not and it’s commonly associated with conspiratorial thinking. Even after this audit wraps up, and presumably finds nothing, these Republicans will move onto the next state and continue fumbling around.

OH NO: Is Biden ABANDONING the Public Option?
CNBC is now reporting that Joe Biden’s new American Families Plan does not include expanded Medicare eligibility nor does it include a provision that would allow the program to negotiate prices directly with drug companies. Biden’s plan would make permanent premium cuts for people buying insurance on the individual market. But missing in all of this, is that the public option, which was once a focal point of Biden’s campaign promises, is not on the table for this spending plan. Some Democratic lawmakers are furious with Biden for not making health care a more central part of his proposal. Democratic Senator Patti Murray and Democratic Congressman Frank Pallone are now planning to write a bill that would seek to establish a public option. Biden should absolutely push to get the public option passed, even if it appears unlikely that it would succeed. If it’s determined that this can be passed via budget reconciliation, and Biden can hold the 50 Senate Democrats together on the idea, then the program can be established before the 2022 midterms. But those are two major conditions that Biden and the left would have to meet, because it’s obvious that Republicans are not going to work with him on this.
