Lara Trump Was "Thrilled" Her Kids Got Sick
Lara Trump, the wife of Eric Trump and daughter-in-law of Donald Trump, went on Fox News and made a strange point about the COVID-19 pandemic and sicknesses in general. Fox & Friends co-host Ainsley Earhardt asked Lara about the CDC’s change in policy to recommend children wear masks again as coronavirus cases surge back up in the United States. First, Lara Trump went on a rant about how Dr. Anthony Fauci and other public health officials have changed their minds about masks throughout the pandemic. Then Lara spoke specifically about her kids and how devastating it has been for them to have to continue masking during social situations. Lara Trump mentioned that when her daughter came home with a cold, she was “so thrilled because [Lara knew] that she is actually coming into contact with viruses and germs and bacteria that will allow her to develop an immune system.”
At this late stage in the pandemic, it’s stunning that this still needs to be explained to people but the mask recommendations and mandates are not about building up or suppressing anyone’s immune system. We know that some portion of the community that gets COVID will get seriously ill, some of those people will get hospitalized, and some of those people will die. If it’s not Lara’s kid specifically who is at high risk, the child could still easily pass it on to someone who is more at risk. That’s why basic mitigation measures like mask-wearing and (for the 12 and up population) getting vaccinated is so important. Very few people are happy about having to put their masks on again, but the reality is that cases in the United States are skyrocketing back up, the Delta variant is highly contagious, and not enough Americans have been inoculated yet to achieve herd immunity. The more we see this child-like behavior from adults like Lara Trump, the longer this pandemic is going to go on.
Lunatic Pastor Says Someone Else's Vaccine Made Him Sick
Outrageous far right pastor Rick Wiles said on his television program this week that he was recently around someone who was vaccinated for COVID-19, and the very proximity to the vaccine made him sick. Wiles said, “I’m convinced that my infection and the explosion that we had here in our staff, among my family, and friends — 20 some people altogether — infected suddenly, I believe it came from a vaccinated person coming into this building who was shedding the virus.” To Rick Wiles, it’s inconceivable that an unvaccinated person could have contracted COVID, and because loads of people in the office were unvaccinated and not taking proper precautions, was able to pass it on to everyone else. Instead, he goes with the baseless conspiratorial explanation that people who are vaccinated are transmitting the virus to other people. Wiles has a long list of wacky claims and the unfortunate thing is that this is not going to rank anywhere near the top for him. But it’s still devastating to think that some of his viewers will come away from this thinking that the best way to prevent themselves and the people around them from getting sick is to not get vaccinated, because if they do get vaccinated, then that will somehow make them contagious.

Republican Admits "Nobody Actually Believes" Trump Won Election
Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger spoke to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer about the January 6th commission that began this week in the House of Representatives. Kinzinger has been one of the few GOP representatives who has been critical of Donald Trump and most of his party for perpetuating the “big lie” that led to the Capitol insurrection. In the interview, Kinzinger revealed something that many of us suspected but couldn’t 100% confirm. He said, “save on or two maybe out here, nobody — and I think it’s important to repeat — nobody actually believes the election was stolen from Donald Trump but a lot of them are happy to go out and say it was.” The congressman also mentioned that several of his fellow Republican lawmakers have come up to him in private to say they support the work he is doing, but they would never say such a thing in public. It’s statements like these that have turned Adam Kinzinger into a top enemy within the ranks of the Republican Party and may prevent him from getting reelected to Congress in 2022.
