Tucker Goes FULL Antivax Over Colin Powell's Death
Tucker Carlson talked about Colin Powell’s death on his Fox News show last night and used it as an opportunity to question the efficacy of the COVID vaccine. Powell was 84-years-old and immunocompromised, thus putting him at risk of getting a serious case of coronavirus despite being fully vaccinated. But Tucker left out that important context until the very end of his program and made the case that Powell’s death proved the public had “been lied to.” Tucker said, “people who have been fully vaccinated can still get the virus, can still transmit the virus to others, and they can still die from COVID.” Of course, Carlson ignored the crucial detail that the deaths of the vaccinated are happening at far lower rates. Tucker then went full on conspiratorial, arguing that the government is not telling us about this because powerful people want “to divide us from each other.” Colin Powell’s death really shouldn’t be telling us anything new about COVID and the vaccines. It was already well known that in some rare cases, fully vaccinated people can die from COVID-19. Powell just so happened to put a face to this rare statistic because he was a Secretary of State and a household name. Unfortunately, this type of propaganda from folks like Tucker Carlson can work and it’s the type of thing that can lead people to forgo vaccination and put themselves at great risk.
Dennis Prager Happy He Has COVID (for Which He's Taking 5 Medications)
Dennis Prager, conservative talk show host and PragerU founder, announced on his program that he has come down with COVID-19. Prager said that he has been able to avoid hospitalization despite being unvaccinated and that he has done so by taking a long list of medications that include monoclonal antibodies, azithromycin, hydroxychloroquine, zinc, and ivermectin. Prager went on to explain how he wanted to get natural immunity from COVID all along so he is in a sense pleased with the diagnosis. He said, “I engaged with strangers constantly, hugging them, taking photos with them, knowing that I was making myself very susceptible to getting COVID, which is indeed, as bizarre as it sounded, what I wanted, in the hope that I would achieve natural immunity and be taken care of with therapeutics.” Prager also called it “infinitely preferable to have natural immunity than vaccine immunity” without backing up such a claim. Dennis Prager is 73 years old and an avid cigar smoker, so he does run a significant risk of falling victim to COVID. It certainly doesn’t help that he decided to forgo vaccination and that most of the drugs he’s taking for it haven’t actually been shown to be effective against the virus.
From yesterday’s show:
Texas Official Wants Holocaust Balanced by "Opposing Views"
A school district in Texas is under fire for reportedly telling teachers to inform students about “opposing” views of the Holocaust. Gina Peddy, who works for the Carroll Independent School District in Southlake, Texas, allegedly made the comments during a meeting with teachers and administrators. She said, “make sure that if you have a book on the Holocaust, that you have one that has opposing, that has — that has other perspectives.” This is a great opportunity to stress the difference between objectivity and neutrality. When being objective, the goal is to seek out the truth and accept it wherever that trail may lead. Being neutral is merely pointing out that one side says one thing and another purports another but not picking a side either way. With something like the Holocaust, neutrality should have no place in the discussion and the curriculum has to be taught through an objective lens about the millions of people who were killed. This is an issue of critical thinking and a great opportunity to point out that neutrality and objectivity, though often conflated, are not the same thing.
From yesterday’s show:
Joe Manchin FURIOUS Over BRUTAL Bernie Sanders Op-Ed
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders is putting pressure on his colleague, West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin, and Manchin is not happy about it. Sanders wrote an op-ed for the Charleston Gazette-Mail, a local paper in West Virginia, wherein he criticized Manchin’s unwillingness to join Democrats in passing President Biden’s Build Back Better agenda. Bernie explained in the article what the proposed reconciliation bill would do, including expanding Medicare, education programs, and strengthening child and elder care. It would at the same time raise taxes on the richest Americans so they can start to pay their “fair share.” At the end of the op-ed, Sanders directly called out Manchin for being one of only two Senate Democrats who are obstructing the legislation. He wrote, “poll after poll shows overwhelming support for this legislation. Yet, the political problem we face is that in a 50-50 Senate we need every Democratic senator to vote ‘yes.’ We now have only 48. Two Democratic senators remain in opposition, including Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.” Manchin retaliated by criticizing Sanders as an “out-of-stater” trying to tell West Virginians what’s best for them. Clearly, Manchin is unhappy about this, but maybe it will finally force his hand into making concessions and agreeing to the proposal.
