They're blaming demons & trans for Christian school mass shooting
A mass shooting took place yesterday at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, resulting in six deaths, including three children, and three adults. The shooter was identified as a 28-year-old former student who had no criminal record and was a trans man who used male pronouns. Rather than focusing on the root causes of mass shootings, the right-wing media and politicians have weaponized this tragedy to launch unwarranted attacks against the trans community. Many right-wing commentators, including Matt Walsh and Dan Bongino, characterized the trans community as “demonic.” Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene said, “How much hormones like testosterone and medications for mental illness was the transgender Nashville school shooter taking? Everyone can stop blaming guns now.” Such inflammatory rhetoric not only stigmatizes an already vulnerable population, but also distracts from the urgent need for meaningful action to prevent future mass shootings.
Disoriented Trump gives worst interview in history to Fox's Sean Hannity
Failed former President Donald Trump gave an interview to Fox News host Sean Hannity in which he equivocated about the threat of violence against Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg and attacked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Hannity asked Trump about a post on social media showing him holding a baseball bat next to Alvin Bragg, to which Trump played dumb and gave an unintelligible explanation. Republicans' reactions to the interview have been largely negative, even though Hannity is a friendly interviewer because Trump failed to look like a team player and failed to denounce violence against his political opponents. Trump then talked about his recent rally in Waco, Texas, where he claimed there were tens of thousands of people, but the real number was only around 3,500-5,000. Despite disastrous appearances like this, Trump still has a commanding lead on DeSantis and the rest of the field in the early days of the 2024 Republican primary.
From yesterday’s show:
Ron DeSantis donors worried he can't possibly beat Trump
Right-wing donors are growing increasingly concerned with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’s ability to beat Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican primary. Trump’s poll numbers have increased in recent weeks, and DeSantis’s lack of charisma and inability to effectively attack the former president suggests that he may not have what it takes. This is leading many to wonder if DeSantis should wait until the 2028 or 2032 race when Trump will be out of the picture. However, DeSantis could also miss his moment if he waits that long. Some donors, including billionaire shipping goods magnate Richard Uihlein and his wife Elizabeth, are pumping the breaks on their contributions due to DeSantis's recent stumbles and declining polling. If the situation gets bad enough for the Florida governor, he may opt out of running altogether and clear the field for Trump to easily win the GOP’s nomination.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump threatens "death and destruction" in dangerous 1:00 AM rant
Donald Trump is predicting “death and destruction” if he ends up getting charged by New York prosecutors in connection with his Stormy Daniels hush money payment. Trump went on Truth Social and posted at one in the morning, “What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country? Why & who would do such a thing? Only a degenerate psychopath that truely hates the USA!” This kind of incendiary language from Trump could easily provoke his supporters to commit violence against people investigating him. But it also appears as though many Trump supporters are currently too resigned and unmotivated at the current moment to do so.
