Trump Rally Devolves Into Humiliating Fiasco
Donald Trump is in extreme desperation mode and is now holding three campaign rallies per day. Yesterday, he held events in Pennsylvania, in the cities of Allentown, Lititz, and Martinsburg. If Trump loses, history will look back at these events as idiotic and shameful as they’re taking place at the same time coronavirus case records are being set across the country. Trump is in such panic, being down 8% to Joe Biden in national polls, that he’s bragging about being up in states like Utah and West Virginia. If an incumbent Republican president is citing poll numbers in these deeply red states to make the case they’re going to win the election, you know they’re in trouble.
Trump went on his typical tangent of lies, even making up some new ones. During his Allentown speech, Trump said to the crowd that a world leader said they wouldn’t want to deal with Joe Biden because he’s sleepy all the time. Trump continued to rage against wind power, claiming that if it takes hold, nobody will be able to watch television if it’s not windy. Trump mistakenly said Joe Biden will give people the biggest tax cut in history, which is a great counterexample of Trump’s cognitive abilities as compared to Biden’s. Finally, the President embraced a “lock him up” chant referring to Hunter Biden. The Trump campaign is really committed to making Hunter the story of the election and not the pandemic, the recession, and the number of other crises the country is currently dealing with.
Trump's Amy Coney Barrett CONFIRMED at Trash Event
The Senate voted yesterday to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, 52-48, completing the Republican goal of stealing a Supreme Court seat from Barack Obama and handing it to Donald Trump. Republicans held an event at the White House to celebrate Barrett’s confirmation. They decided to hold another in-person event despite the last Barrett event being a super-spreader that got a number of prominent figures sick with coronavirus, including President Trump himself. Justice Clarence Thomas did the swearing in of now-Justice Barrett and preceded the oath by whispering in her ear, which is definitely not social distancing.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell went on Fox News to celebrate Barrett’s confirmation by saying she will be a “political asset” to the court. It was a candid moment for McConnell, who usually holds the Republican talking point that judges should be apolitical and should strictly interpret the Constitution as the framers indented. Like it or not, the Republicans were able to get away with this robbery of a Supreme Court seat because they had the votes. It’s now our job to take the presidency and the Senate so that Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer can make efforts to pack or reform the court and undo the unrepresentative 6-3 conservative majority.
From yesterday’s show:
Trump Tool: "We're Not Going to Control Pandemic"
Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows spoke with Jake Tapper on CNN about coronavirus and the upcoming election. Tapper grilled Meadows on Vice President Mike Pence’s decision to travel the country instead of quarantining after being exposed to the virus from people in his inner circle. The Trump super-spreader rallies were also hard for Meadows to defend. He said that while the campaign supplies masks to attendees, people have the freedom not to wear masks if they don’t want to. The most notable line from the interview was when Meadows flew the white flag for the administration on coronavirus. He said, “we’re not going to control the pandemic” and that we should instead focus instead on therapeutics and vaccines.
