Disoriented Trump Struggles to Speak at Sycophant Rally
Last weekend, Donald Trump spoke at an Illinois rally in support of Rep. Mary Miller, who has praised Adolf Hitler and celebrated “white life.” Trump appeared completely disoriented and struggled to deliver his remarks. In one particularly noteworthy moment, Trump recited a hateful screed against transgender people, asserting that “no teacher should ever be allowed to teach transgender to our children.” Later, Trump said that the Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol is pushing a “fake and fabricated narrative based on doctored video, lies, and testimony that is totally uncontested by cross-examination.” There seems to be a growing fear among Republicans that the hearings are effective and damaging, which is why they are left to claim that the footage is doctored with no evidence whatsoever.
How Do Trump Supporters Keep Themselves Alive?
Attendees of Donald Trump’s Illinois rally were interviewed by RSBN over the weekend, and the footage has left us wondering how some of these people are even capable of keeping themselves alive. Multiple rallygoers were asked to name their favorite accomplishment from the previous administration, and none of them were able to provide a specific answer. Another man explained that toothpaste is toxic due to fluoride, which he then linked to the COVID-19 vaccine. While we don’t want to make light of serious mental illness, it’s important to acknowledge that a significant portion of the American electorate is vulnerable to conspiracy theories, delusions, and deeply irrational beliefs that impact the way they vote. We may disagree with some Republicans about tax cuts for the rich or investing in clean energy, but the crowd that attends these rallies takes it to another level.
From Friday’s show:
Mo Brooks May Be Ready To Testify Against Trump
Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama announced that he is willing to appear before the January 6th committee to testify about his interactions with Donald Trump, but only if he is allowed to do so in public. Brooks, who has represented Alabama’s 5th congressional district since 2011, lost his race to Katie Britt, who has supported Trump’s claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election. Mo Brooks was initially endorsed by Donald Trump, but was subsequently un-endorsed in March after he remarked that Republicans should focus on the 2022 and 2024 election cycles rather than dwell on 2020. The timing of this is interesting, suggesting that Mo Brooks is possibly out for revenge against Trump for putting his political career to an end.
Democrats ELEVATING Extremist Republicans Ahead of Midterms
Political organizations affiliated with the Democratic Party are running ads for Trumpist Republicans with the intention of creating more favorable results for Democrats in congressional match-ups. In one such ad, Nancy Pelosi’s House Majority PAC spotlights Lori Saine, a candidate in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District who is competing against three other Republicans in the June 28th primary. The ad promotes Saine as a “conservative warrior” who “supported Donald Trump from Day 1.” This strategy suggests that if a far-right extremist wins the Republican nomination, then voters will be driven to vote for Democrats. However, history has shown that this is dangerously misguided. In last month’s election in Pennsylvania, Democrat Josh Shapiro spent $1.7 million on TV ads highlighting the conservative positions of Doug Mastriano, which amounted to more money than Mastriano’s campaign spent during the entire primary. Mastriano went on to win his race and will face Shapiro in the general election. These Democratic groups are playing with fire because unstable far-right extremists best represent the mainstream Republican Party.
